Bad fuel pump
After spending a good portion of the day trying to find an E10 Torx socket (to remove the rear seat) and then removing 7 bolts (with one snapping off and needing to be drilled out), I was finally able to test and verify that the fuel pump is no good. What has everyone been using for a replacement assembly? Thanks for any suggestions. Bill C

I believe Toyota only sells the entire assembly complete with fuel filter and I bet that’s expensive. If you can do it I would just buy a motor and swap him out. Of course you would want to replace the filter too.
Good luck and tell us what happens!

Amazon fuel pump assembly delivered and installed. Fuel guage not working but car is running awesome. Took a chance with an Amazon Warehouse pump ($75.00) and it was fine. The fuel assembly is not in the exact same position as the original so that may be the problem with the sender.
Would you put a new fuel pump in the original assembly to keep as a spare? Bill C |

Update, car would not start at McDonalds (but fuel gauge was working). Checked electrical connection and hoses. Won't be able to get to it until Monday morning due to fire department details earlier today and tomorrow. Bill C

That amazon pump was probably some random Chinese one that probably won't be reliable or last very long.

Just wanted to update everyone. Got the car back today, it was the Cam Position Sensor. I needlessly replaced the fuel pump because I didn't check for fuel flow. I got stubborn and registered my 10,000# trailer and then spent 3 1/2 hours trying to load the car on. Bill C

Live and learn. At least your car has a new fuel pump now.

The camshaft position sensor had nothing to do with the fuel pump. I didn't properly troubleshoot the problem and thought it was the fuel pump. It was the cam position sensor all along. Bill C
