Wow. I wonder why. Do you think the new front end is 'making a splash', or do you think there are other significant factors?

The top 3 'Dec '13 vs Dec '14' % gainers on your list, IMO, also happen to give the best overall 'bang for the buck'.

There are 118 new manuals in the whole country. Only three of them are in Texas. One in Austin, and two in Corpus Christi. The 5 closest out of state locations...for zip codes around here....are Springfield, MO....Olathe, KS....Jasper, AL...Brmingham, AL....and Pensacola, FL.

^^^^^Go to Cars.com. Click on 'Advanced Search'. Click on the circle next to 'New'. Plug in your zip code and select 'all' from the miles choices. Click on the arrow next to 'Transmission' and select manual. Then...unless your browser has already 'kicked' you into a search ...click the search button.

The results default to price in descending order. Click on the arrow to the right and take the one distance option/choice.

Looks like a 2014SE in Austin. Corpus Christi information doesn't jive with dealer (Mike Shaw) website.

But maybe this means an easing of Gulf States Toyota.

My understanding is that 'Toyota corporate' doesn't like that the two remaining independent U.S. distributors -- Gulf States Toyota and Southeastern Toyota -- won't sell out to the parent company. Who knows, this somewhat tempestuous relationship may effect which cars come through to the consumer and/or how they are equipped.

So....just who are they punishing? I sent them (Toyota) an email last year and felt i could force an order. I assume dealers dont order cars...they normally pick them when they're"on the boat".

I know that those two distributors can include high profit margin options requested by the distributor that are included as part of the factory generated original sticker. They do this to assure what they feel is a reasonable profit. I learned this calling all the out of state dealers I did while shopping for my 2014. My understanding from these calls is that Toyota corporate does not like this. I found some information online that backed this up and also suggested that Toyota corporate has made offers to buy both distributorships...to no avail. Some dealerships within these states also add an additional PAC sticker. My understanding is that the dealers in these states dislike the 'distributor requested options within the factory sticker' as much as Toyota corporate does. This is definitely the feeling at my dealer in Florida. It makes sense. The consumer is only going to pay so much...so this practice potentially pulls profit away from the others.

Perhaps there are a certain allowance within the agreement for this^^^^^? The dealerships feel punished (not that too many people would have sympathy ) because some of the things the distributor may choose to add within the factory sticker are usually dealer items that a dealer could include on a dealer affixed additional PAC sticker. Also, if there are any gripes from the customer re this, one or the other or both ends (the dealer and Toyota corporate) hear about it from the customer, but those two distributors usually wouldn't.

When we ordered the two 09s.....The dealer located them on the incoming ship and eliminated any distributer options (no floor mats, no medical kit, no scotch guatd, no paint sealant).

For what it's worth, my 97219 ZIP will allow me to order a 2015 SE, but it only comes in one color: Meteorite Gray Metallic. Odd. So odd.

As for the reason for the sales increase? I think it's due to a very bad December 2013. In December 2012, Toyota moved 1999 units which was DOWN 55.7% from December 2011!

FYI, Yaris sales are down 87% since 2007. I've got a story on SubcompactCulture.com about this tomorrow.

Here's a link to the story on Subcompact Culture about the Yaris and its sales in the U.S. since its introduction.

Good dealer .

A medical kit! Wow. I thought I'd heard of every 'PAC' item a dealer or distributor could think of. That is a new one.
