Prevents oil to enter the intake manifold.

This condition over a long period of time has ben known to cause sludge formations and leading to other problems on some other Toyota models.

I have never heard of this problem on the Yaris tough.

To your question: It won't harm you to install one.

Is it really need it? Probably not.

Does it look cool on your engine bay? Yes

its used on boosted cars. on na cars it wouldnt make any sense to install one not unless you add one and add a filter to the inlet side thats the side that comes from the manifold to valve cover i ran one on my tc then i boosted it so now it beneficial to me

try running a clear hose and watch how fast it will build up with oil
ive ran without it before its just an extra security to keepin the valves clean

Does it matter though? Isn't it oiled up under the valve cover anyways?

nope cause oil is only sprayed out as the pressure increases in the valve cover if the pressure doesnt then nothing. which in boosted cars it does. nas only if you disconnect the hose from the manifold to the valve cover and out a filter on the inlet side there is now an unequal amount of pressure difference created instead of the natural push and pull effect

lol thanks i had to type it on the side before my uncle gets pissed cause im not doing any productive work when i should really be doing some parts orders for his body shop

cars have ran 100k+++ miles without them, why rice a system that is stable? just do oil changes on time with proper synthetic...

The puke can can be useful on an engine with mods, but our cars stock run lean.
I did notice gunk coming out and if you run the car hot enough to burn off the gunk at intake. You should be ok. The stock Yaris driven under normal conditions are ok without it. I only havevto clean out my can every 6 months.

If you had a stock AFR chart you'll see that the car runs roughly stoichometric till about 4000+ rpms when it goes very rich.
