Another Yaris autocross

Well, i've finally got my yaris out there last sunday. i didn't have any mod's so i ran H-stock, put it in 1st place. was ton's of fun! had lot of people wandering, as they haven't heard of or seen a yaris yet. my time was fast enough to be in some other classes. But as for right now i'll just stick with some sticky tires and run H Stock for now! This is the link to the results. i plan on competeing for PAX this year.

Wow, your times really good, considering your rides pretty much stock!

I'll have a DIY/review up later that should peak particular interest for you autocrossers.

Killer Dude . We did the same in our yaris this past weekend . My son got 2nd in Hstock (18th overall ) and I got 7th overall ( 138 cars) in the pro class . If you keep winning you will get protested . We got protested this weekend for larger than stock tires . He lost his protest . I don't think the Yaris will be in Hstock after this season . Enjoy it while you can :) I love to hear the snicker and jeers BEFORE the autox and REALLY LOVE seeing the slackjaw expressions after the first run :):):):) Can't wait to track Coryn (my yaris) . I WILL GET A TOP 5 BEFORE THE END OF 2007 :):):):): I feel it .

yeah, i'm keeping too the rules. largest wheel offered for the yaris is 15x5.5inches, which is what the MINI wheels are. and then the rules state that i can run the largest tire that i can fit. if i get knocked out of H-stock, i'll just go to STS.

The largest wheel offered for the Yaris from Toyota is 18x7 with a 215/35 tread :) Which is why I use a 16x7 with a 205/45 tread :)

well as an aftersale option, yes. Rules state it has to be from-the-factory-option. So technically the yaris sedan S has factory 15x5.5 wheels. now that i have the wheels, i've got to play around with tire sizes to see what's best. I also need a tach/shift light.

In HS you can run the Kumho V710 or V700, go with the Dot R tires and shave off a couple seconds for your runs!

yes your right. i am allowed to do that. but i've agreed not to do that with the others in my class. We have some very close racing, and lot of fun. if i were to go to slicks, i would have massive advantage and loose the fun. kinda like playing Gran turismo, racing on a track with cars that are on street tires and you have slicks. Besides there is always STS.

Our first points race was yesterday 3.25.07 looks like I was second place in STS behind a Acura RSX Type S by .511 <ratz> it was a long course this time and the HP advantage beat me coming back up the course against a 25mph headwind LOL

i've noticed your thread, how come you don't run a more aggresive street tyre? like the hankook rs2's or even the Azenis?

My SSR's which weigh 11lbs each are 16 x 6.5's limiting tire choice. So in the Dunlops i am running 205/50/16, the RTs come in

225/50R16
215/45R16
205/40R16
which only the first one comes close to fitting my my wheels.

Have some Hankooks on the truck hate them. I know that should not sway me but it does. Perhaps before regionals I might try the Falkens in 225/50/ and see what difference it makes.

Gosh I miss my Dot R's in HS LOL
