Yaris wheels and tires

Hi I'm looking to upgrade my wheels and tires from standard 175/65/14 to probably 195/55/15.

When choosing wheels what should I go for in terms of rim width, 6.5 or is 7 better?

Any suggestions for favorite tires? I'm leaning towards Bridgestone RE003 (Firestone Indy)

If you want to do it legally, Australian Design Rules allow you to go 26 mm wider than original rims. The track between the tyre centres must also not increas by more than 25mm, and the overall diameter must not change by more than 15 mm.

If yo go more than this you need to get an authorised motor vehicle engineer to certify that the new tyre and wheel combination is safe.

I don't know what area of Australia you are in, but there are some regions here in Sydney where the Roads and Maritime Service people sometimes pull obviously modified vehicles over and check them. If the vehicle is outside the specifications, it will be defected...

TYRE size: 195/55/15 is an excellent option.

RIM width: 15x6.5 or 15x7? 195's will fit 5"-7" rims.

OFFSET: ET40-45 is probably best.

TREAD design: This little car is notorious for wandering all over the road at higher speeds. Highway wander can be eliminated by choosing a non-aggressive tread pattern with a continuous centre rib; this will provide better straight line tracking.
