cargo light not working? ( Yaris HatchBack )

Hi, my trunk light (cargo space) is not working. i changed the bulb but it still not working. I wonder where the problem is ???

( my dome light and all accessories are working just fine )

Could be a bad switch. When I open my hatch it shows up on the dash as a door open. Is yours doing this? Did it used to? Might check the switch.

Yah, when i open the hatch, there is no door open signal show up on the instrument panel. if it's the switch, where is it? i cannot find it, so i don't know where to fix?

Good question. I just went and took a look at mine. It has to be built into the latch. I poked around in there but couldn't activate it. Your switch might be stuck in the open position so a little lube and a few openings and closings of the hatch might be worth a try. It doesn't look too hard to pull it out but I didn't feel like doing that.

It is part of the latch. The brown wire is one side of the switch and the white/black wire, which is ground is the other side.

Thanks you for the answers. i will try to check that when i have time. hope it's not too hard to open the hatch panel to fix it.

how would I go about fixing this brown wire for the switch ?

Scott! do you have any diagrams for this by any chance? I have the exact same issue and although I pulled out all of the covers from my Yaris hatchback, I can't find the culprit
