And what is the thickness of the cometic head gasket?

I don't think Cometic has a yaris/1NZ gasket, but maybe. Toyota isn't listed on their site.

I use a stock gasket with no issues.

In fact a friend is having some issues. Most probably his head is warped, car is drinking coolant. So he will have to re-surface the head and go for thicker head gasket.

Thats why i am looking for thicker metal head gasket.

I suppose we could use two stock metal head gasket,as it is aftermarket metal ones are multi-layered.

Opinions?

Thanks.

I've never done this, but I know people successfully double up gaskets, especially metal ones like the OEM Toyota gasket. Pretty much any shop can make you one as well.

Why do you want a thicker one? There is space to safely deck the head and use a stock gasket, we have done it on a number of engines.

Thanks Jason and Garm, this is the exact information i was looking. I figured that finally we may have to use two stock head gaskets but i didnt know that i can deck the head and still use the stock head gasket.
We learn something new everyday!

Many thanks!

I don't know what the limit is (I cant give you the specific number) but we had our engine guy deck it just for the purpose of a compression increase, so we took a good bit off. Just cleaning up after an overheat should be a minimal repair.

If his is to far gone I have a spare head, less than 1500 miles all stock and complete, (just wanted a spare when we were doing R&D with the early cams, but never used it).

Many thanks for the help, but i am mile and miles away from you.And shipping is a real killer.
As one problems dont come in ones, now i just discovered that we have the know issue of leaky head gasket with oil traces by the block/head and timing chain area.
Also around the block/head area all around.

But it doesnt change the oil level, but it needs to be looks at :(

I have a former racing source that probably would design something. All depends on how busy he is with bigger stuff.
