Welding - Next level of DIY

Picked up this Mig welder, new in a box from my neighbour. He threw in an auto-dimming helmet and an extra roll of 0.03" flux core wire. $150.00 CAD for the lot! I've been watching youtube vids and will start practicing soon.

This is a very useful overview. Thank you very much! At the moment, I am just learning and gaining experience in order to become a welder in a more professional direction in the future. It would be useful for every man, I think. I noticed that your post was almost unnoticed, which is very wrong, because it is really useful. I am currently studying at the courses https://weldingnearyou.com/salary/ and I'm just learning about my prospects. Are you already a professional employee? What are your results now? I will be happy if you answer me!

Nice! I have so many ideas that require me to know how to weld. It's on the list, haha!

Can't wait to see what you do with it.

I started welding about 23 years ago. It changes how one perceives any situation

My younger brother has his welding ticket, been trying to get him to teach me the basics. So many doors open up when you know how to weld.

It opens the window of customization and repair. I couldn't have done the 4" lift kit without one. Good luck to you sir!

It will evenly pay for itself. Have fun and stay safe. PPE is always a good thing.

Do it man! Haha. I'm no pro, but the welder has already paid for itself. It's great fun. I'm not so great at making nice beads, but I spot weld and kind of join the dots. I'm made many strong welds. I did all the Red Yaris rebuilding of the rocker panel section and welded the cut out piece of skin back on.

I agree. It has really expanded the number of job types that I can do now. Most of my welding would be considered crude, but structurally sound. My die grinder and large grinder are my friends, haha.

So true! I feel confident taking on repairs that I would have had to have done by a shop. Now I can do it right in my garage or on the driveway.

Ain't that the truth! Feels great to be able to do stuff -even simple stuff. Your lift build is awesome. I followed the process. Impressive!

Haha, it's already paid for itself. I did have one issue with the wire feed. It was bunching up inside, but I got it sorted out. Agreed about the PPE. I have a nice auto-dimming helmet, heavy gloves and coveralls. I try to do all my welding outside and hole my breath lol.

Thanks, though I should have posted more about my experiences with it. I am just an auto enthusiast. I had never even picked up a welder before I bought this. In this thread, you can see some of the repairs I did with the welder.

Im actually considering some seriously custom work on that car. Jeep axles, transfer case, chevy ls engine, and a custom frame to hold it all in place. Will give my welder a good workout lol. But I gotta finish my 1987 Cutlass Supreme build first... which also required much welding. Once you have a welder, you want to build everything!
