Can I use stock tires on these 15" rims?
i have a new 2009 yaris sedan, with the 15" steel wheel with wheel covers.
i just found the Motegi SX5 rims in silver, 15x6.5 i believe. the recomended tire size is 185/60/15. here is a link from tirerack: http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Wheel...All&sort=Brand will those fit my stock yaris tires that i have on right now? so i can just order the rims only, without tires, and have them installed somehwere using my existing tires? also, with those rims installed, it shouldnt affect my odometer/speedometer readings at all since its the same size as the OEM steel wheels and tires, righT? so itll only affect those meters if i have bigger or smaller wheels installed? thanks again u guys have been a huge help so far |

Yes....
Your Stock wheels will fit into a 6.5" wheel with no problem. A lot of people here have done it. A little advise... the offset on that wheel is a little low for the Yaris. That one on your link is a +35 You could have some rubbing. It should be ok as long if you don't plan on lowering the car on the future. Or you don't usually carry 3 grown ups in the back of your car. For an un-lowered car the ideal offset should be 40+ or higher. For a lowered car you should look for 42-45+ offset |

Go to The Tirerack.com. They have a lot of technical information regarding this subject. Now a Yaris with an offset of 35+ like the wheels on your link will rub the outer side of the tire on the fender of the car. In other words, the tire will stick out a little too much. This will happen over a bump or when carrying heavy load. You want enough offset so your wheel can move freely inside the fender of the car when the suspension is compressed. |

ahh isee...so the smaller the offset value, the more the wheel will be sticking out? this makes sense if its lowered as you said, since you would want a larger offset value to have the wheel tucked ina bit more and away from the fender, correct?
ok..so i should be looking for a wheel with offset of 40 or more? how about these: http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Wheel...All&sort=Brand so far, these seem to have all the matching specs.... also, how much do the 15" stock wheels weigh? i want to see if these 17lbers are lighter... CASTREX: thanks again for all your help!! |

15x6.5, ET35, 185/60/15, is good fitment for the Yaris. With the +35 offset and the 185mm tyre, you will have no rubbing issues whatsoever! If you plan to run OEM 185's, any wheel with ET35-45 will be fine. No worries.

thanks guys! i dont think ill ever want to go wider anyway...i dont really want to do anything thats gong to hurt fuel economy as that is the main reason why i chose this car over many others. but that 15" setup with 35 offset sounds good with 185OEM tires.

If I understand correctly...
I could buy some 15x6 wheels and put my stock 185/60/R15 (Potenza RE92) tires on them with no problems at all??? I hope so, as 5.5" wheels are harder to find. |
