Knocking/Scratching Noise (with video!)

A few weeks ago my Yaris started making a knocking (maybe scratching) noise. It's becoming way more consistent and way more pronounced. Now I'm nervous (ok embarrassed) to drive it.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?

The noise changes with the throttle right? Could be the water pump

Without hearing th noise I can almost guarantee it's the water pump. The noise should match the Rev changes. Just sit your car idle and have someone push the accelerator a few times, the noise should change with it.

When my Echo's wp went at 310,000km a it did was make a brutal warble like scratching noise. No leaking a all. I changed it because the last think I need is the bearing and other metal pieces to disintegrate into the cooling system. Ever since the change i've had no issue an it's been over 50,000km since the change

yeah, sounds like water pump. If you want to make sure the noise is not coming from inside the engine, remove the belt and start the engine. My water pump made a very similar noise when it was dead
