Exclamation Yaris LED flasher relay problem

Hi, new to this forum after recently purchasing a MK2 Vvt-i 1.33 Yaris.

Decided to swap pretty much all the LED lights with either Osram or Phillips.

All went well until I got to the flashers/indicators. I've got another Toyota so knew straight away about needing to swap out the relay.

The problem is, that despite swapping out the old flasher relay, the lights are still in hyper flash. I thought the relay night be faulty so swapped it with the one from my other car which works perfectly and I still get the same problem.

Has anyone had the same issue and found out the reason for this?

Cheers guys!

Not sure if the mk2 is the same, but I ran across this with my 2012 series 3. The series 3 flashers are controlled by the ECU, with no flasher relay. The only way to stop the hyper flash rate was to put suitable resistors in parallel with the LEDs.

These ended up with a 6 ohm resistor across each LED. The resistors need to be rated at least 20 watts to avoid them failing, but 30 watts would be safer. The ones I got had a finned aluminium casing complete with mounting holes so they could be fixed in a suitable position for cooling air flow.

Thank for the reply kevinj93.

After checking the wiring diagrams I found it's definitely not controlled by the ECU on the Mk2.

For some reason the standard LED relays don't seem to work, but I found this relay that was perfect. It's also adjustable so you can set the exact timings to you want:
