Did a little painting this Sunday. Real easy kit form Duplicolor picked it up at $21 from Kragen.

Thanks. Been wondering what red would look like with my bronze wheels. Now I know. Looks clean.
Have you done anything with your drums? |

Great job.
ive been debating on weather I should get caliper covers or the caliper decals that you see on ebay. After some research ive read that the covers arent a good idea as in the long run they can cause damange http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=380073586101 FTA: ( These are not caliper covers, which we do not recommend. They fit poorly as well as trapping excess heat and corrosive brake dust. This can lead to warping the brake discs and damging the caliper housing. Our decals, together with caliper paint, do not interfere with the caliper operation and allow the heat generated to be dissipated, as the factory intended ) Up to 300 degrees Fahrenheit constant temp! (We give 9 so you have a extras for practice/mistakes) Anyways, i ordered the caliper decals off ebay and will post up some pics once I get them on. |

nice job man!! I did the same thing only I used just regular caliper paint and a lil time for mine. And on my Escort I used engine paint and did the front calipers and the rear drum. The escorts now has red brakes and my LB's I painted silver

I also used this kit, and it worked great. The trick is to really take your time with the masking and use a tiny brush for the areas that are hard to reach. Also, I removed the brake pad clips to paint around them, but you could probably just mask them carefully if you don't want to take the extra time. If you do paint them, the paint will flake off eventually, so I wouldn't.
I have a red lip on my rims, and it adds a neat touch. I suggest NOT matching the drums on the rear, unless you REALLY want a lot of color. I put another coat of satin black on my rears while they were new to prevent the stock paint from cooking off. Down here in Texas, painted drums tend to only be seen on low-quality DIY's and true show cars. I'm sure someone will contradict me, but that's how I see it. We--painted calipers can look like they came that way. |
