1nzfe throttle body swap and fitment questions
Hey everybody I'm new to The forum, I've got some questions about doing the throttle body swap. I went to my local parts yard and found plenty of cars with the normal throttle body to swap. My question is, I found a few corollas or camrys that have the 2.2 in them. It has the same 3 bolt flange so it should bolt right to the intake of the 1nz, is this throttle body from the 2.2 bigger than the other throttle body people are using over the stock one? And if it is different, in what ways are they different and will it be a better swap? Pros and cons please! Thank you.
Ps I am trying to locate pulleys for the crank, cams? Not sure if they have pulleys for the cam considering it's a vvti engine. Also trying to figure out what I can do about the plastic intake manifold, is there an intake I can modify and or swap into the echo? If not who makes sheet metal Intakes? |

First off, you have an Echo, so you have a cable throttle right? If the Corolla TB is the same flange AND the cable linkage is in the same place you might be able to swap it.
You'd want an xB pulley, your car has a dual belt crank pulley (2nd gen Yaris has a single belt pulley). I sell a few brands of light pulleys for the xB/Echo. I don't know of any cam pulleys. Intakes I'm not sure about, as again yours isn't the same as a 2nd gen.

Ya the tb I looked at is a cable tb. I'd like to get more air in and more air out. I've got a dc sports ceramic coated header which made a difference.
(Tooter)- how much for one of those intake manifolds and what kinds of throttle body's have you seen used on the 1nzfe successfully with your manifold. (Cali yaris)-- I know I have an echo. How much are your crank pulleys? |

None are available at the moment as the machined parts to make them won't be ready until next year. I have one manifold that's ready to be built. The tooter manifold accepts all of these throttle bodies: 46mm 4 bolt throttle body ( electronic drive by wire) 55mm 4 bolt throttle body (electronic drive by wire) 51mm 3 bolt throttle body (cable operated) Greg |

Tooter, they're still 595 WITHOUT the throttle body adapter? he wouldn't need one.

Mild thread necro:
What's the thread on the TB studs? M6? M8? The web isn't being useful tonight... *edit I found a Matrix site claiming them to be M8x1.25. Can anyone confirm this? |

The info on the Matrix site is correct. My first gen XB uses 8mm x 1.25mm.

Thanks. I made a first pass on machining the adapter this weekend, but didn't get to the drilling/tapping or the gasket channel.

Sadness: the holes on the 1ZZ TB won't fit an M8 bolt. Must be M6 studs. Two choices: make a new flange, or bore the TB holes...

Just drill out the TB if there's enough material.

I've got enough material to make a few more, but I'm going to stop by the you-pick junk yard and see if there's still a TB on a Vibe/Matrix for a spare. I also need to make some adjustments to the dimensions of the gasket channel, so it's probably best if I just make another.

Hi Guys, i would like to leech on this thread :)
i have a 03 yaris t-sport, with 1nz-fe engine(1.5 liter) my plan is to make a bigger TB+inlet mani and add at least a header before moving to further mods. A few questions of my own: 1) will a 1.8L cable TB like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/THROTTLE-BOD...11ff60&vxp=mtr fit?(i already done the coolant bypass MOD) 2) will a corolla(1.6) or matrix(1.8) inlet mani fit the yaris? 3) if not, are there any other custom inlet manis available besides tooter one? Thanks in advance! |
