Well that explains it, no way you were in 3rd or 4th if you pegged the speedo. That explains the freakishly high #'s......

Btw, just cause it says your power is at X, doesn't mean that dyno isn't calibrated properly. I've seen places fudge up some dyno numbers to make it look like their tune is epic.

Not sayin that this place is doing that, but i'm jus sayin.

It's totally possible, I've seen a few cars that have dyoned with more power than they should from stock factory numbers
Really? 16-20% better? I'd like to see a concrete example that you've "seen".

anyways, a "pull" is one run on a dynamometer at full throttle in one particular gear, measuring power and torque throughout the rpm range, up to redline.

Usually a few pulls are done to get a consistent or "best" result. Or, a tuner does a session of several runs while tuning the car for whatever the desired result is.

If I didn't get that quite right, please correct the details.

The only dyno in New England runs you 250 an hour. You get as many pulls as you want, but you still pay the minimum 250.

wait. so a different gear ratio will give you different numbers? ill ask that guy later after work today. if thats the case, ill see if he will throw in an extra dyno for me in 3rd gear and see the difference. but ill still try to hit up jacksonville this friday if i can make an appointment to get another dyno comparisson..

Manuals are usually tested in 4th gear (one the 1:1 ratio) and autos in 3rd gear (usually 1:1 ratio)

Thats so complicated. Just have ur own baseline. Then dyno it the same way every time you mod your car. Dyno numbers don't mean ish when you're on the track.

Even if people track their car many times people like to know what they truly are getting for their hard earned dollar when buying performance parts. Plus it is always nice to be able to tell someone an honest number if asked rather than just saying, "Dyno numbers don't mean ish when you're on the track." Also as a point of reference the LTA (Loring Time Association) here requires you to provide at least something so that they can gauge certain requirements at their track events.
