I am going to get wheels but I can't decide between getting 15x6.5 wheels and put them on my stock bridgestone tires(185/60R15) or get some nice 16x7 wheels and put some nice sticky rubber on them. I am also planning on geting coilovers. It would be cheaper to get some 15's by about $600 however I'd feel safer with better rubber, Opinions

I was planning on getting konig feather with some toyo proxies 205/50

I like the idea of 16s and nicer rubber. If you are going to stretch it, you can go lower too.

I have 15x7's with nice rubber (Bridgestone Potenzas) and I love them. I just sold my stock tires off my steelies and put snow tires on them for winter. That way I'm covered all year.

If you're going to put coilovers on, I'd suggest a 15x6.5, +40 or higher, with 195/55/15 rubber to avoid rubbing.

• I've had 16x7, +37 with 205/50/16 tires: I rubbed

• I've had 15x6.5, +38 with 205/50/15 tires: I rubbed

• I've had 15x6.5, +40 with 195/55/15 tires: I rarely rub, except under extreme circumstances (hard corners, big dips)

I will not rub with the stock wheels/tire (15x5.5, +45 with 185/65/15 tires)

I am lowered on Megan Racing coliovers, FYI.

15X7, +35, 205 55 15 Hankook RS2's or Falken Azenis RT615's and call it a day.

Maybe on an xA ... but you'll rub all day on a Yaris.

Haha, totally agree with you on this. Rub a little plastic and they feel like their car is going to fall apart.

I would get 15s and ditch the crappy stock rubber. Better rubber selection going with 15s. But 16s do look better on the Yaris's round bubbly body.

I guess I don't use "rub" and "ideal" together. He said "ideal."

Perhaps the OP should define what he means by ideal, since everyone has a different opinion.

when you guys say "don't buy a +42 offset, you'll rub... you have to buy a +43 offset" does that 1 millimeter make THAT much of a difference? and where is the tire rubbing anyway? outside fenderwell?

Depends on if the 1 millimeter puts the tire into the fenderwell.

I've seen tires replaced under 5k miles, due to some rubbing. That fender can really mess stuff up.

With that said, minor rubbing shouldn't be a problem. I've had rubbing on my +38s, but it stopped once the fender lining made a hole.

tire tread varies in width by much more than 1mm

which means if you rotate tires, you might rub

its rubs on the outside fenderwell like you said but its not that big of a deal. EXCEPT when your trying to be cool making a u turn or something else that requires you to turn steering wheel hard.......
