Angry 1st Gear Revs...

so ive noticed im still not used to the DBW bs and its really pissing me off lately... sometimes when im going from a standstill i notice it revs to 3000-4000!

im trying my hardest to get to the right position at around 2000 but the difference between 2000 and 3000 on the pedal is like 2mm and DBW's Lag doesnt help one bit!... quite frustrating!!!

i think im going to have to get the clutch replaced after a few years

anyone have the same prob or had the same problem and you got used to it?

thanks!

This is my main complaint with this car, but have got used to it (sort of). Mashing the pedal has no effect--suggest feathering throttle to get revs up before you take off

Took about a week for me to get used to it...now it's second nature...

find the point on the clutch pedal where you see your car jittering and then get use to that. With that in mind, gas a little bit and at the same time slowly release clutch.
Practice this in an open parking lot..

I was bad at this, but now Im use to it, except on where i have to stop on an incline and start up on first.

I'm so glad to see this thread. I mean, I know it's been a while since I drove a stick but I was really doubting my abilities with this going from a stand still into first. At least I'm not alone in the quest for balance. :o)

Yea. Took me a while to get used to a low power car. I came down from a X-Runner. You could nearly drop the clutch, and it won't stall.

Wow, small world. Today I finally complained about my clutch/throttle problem and the service writer said: "the lead tech drove your car and didn't find anything wrong". He was very sarcastic. Earlier he dissed me for buying a Yaris because it's an "entry level" car. This guy was a real dumbass and unfortunately that's 95% of dealership employees.

Anyway, I spoke the the customer satisfaction babe and I'm going to get in touch with Toyota. I have stalled my LB over 100 times in a year! I never had the problem with my '05 xB. I have 19,300 miles on mine and I'm beginning to feel a bit of chatter when starting on hills.

i know what you mean... im quite new to manual/stick, and i get nervous sometimes so when i get nervous i give a bit too much gas forgetting about the lag..."why isnt this revving"...soon followed by "oh shit" ... *wheelspin galore* followed by "poor Clutch"
