I was referring more to another case that had come up on here, about an NST w/p pulley that had fallen apart. I'm not sure if that issue was ever resolved or not. I would just like some piece of mind that if this pulley ever did crack or completely fall apart, it would be replaced.

Aah, I wasn't aware of that issue. That's a valid point then, but I'm sure that the good people (person?) at microimage will stand behind their product.

Micro Image crank lightweight crank pulley review

Install was a breeze, but I’m not going to go into the details as there is already a comprehensive thread on that.

http://www.microimageonline.com/forums/showthread.php/173-DIY-Nonstop-Tuning-CR-LITE-Crank-Pulley

It took me less than an hour from start to finish, using only hand tools.

The review:

I installed the Micro Image lightweight crank pulley prototype on my 07’ manual trans 3 door and ran it for about 1,000 miles(a little more at this point). There are no issues to report, install was straight forward and fit and finish are superb!
I didn’t notice any additional noise, or increase in vibration( I’m running a lightweight flywheel which did increase vibration over stock, I did not notice any additional vibration on top of that).
I do notice a significant increase in rev speed(on top of the initial increase from the FW). The improvement was noticeable from the first start. The flywheel/pulley combination have transformed the engine from something that was embarrassing to throttle up at a light, to something that strikes fear into the heart of the driver next to you.
< them < you

On top of all that the car is still very much streetable(It‘s not an issue whatsoever). My wife drives the Yaris once or twice a week without complaint and I commute with it a minimum of 400 miles per week, generally through bumper to bumper Los Angeles traffic.

I cannot think of any reason you’d not want to upgrade to a lightweight pulley. In my opinion it should be on everybody’s “to-do” list, right near the top.

@ goliath -- we would replace it immediately if it broke within a year. After that "official" warranty period, I'd probably do it anyway, because that's how I roll.

Even though I have an NST crank pulley (no longer installed) I may just have to pick one of these up. Not liking the extra load on the engine since I removed the NST, and I was going to reinstall it at some point, so I might as well support MI and grab one of these instead!

Would this make any difference on an Autotragic transmission? And are the shifts on the auto trans ECU assisted, like telling it when it's best to shift or is it still old fashioned torque converter decided?

Reason I ask is because if it's ECU decided shifting, how would the ECU know when to shift since it's programmed for a stock part but now it has something alot different?

I hope that's not too far fetched, I just thought I read somewhere before that the shifting on the auto trans Yaris is electronically assisted. Flame me for stupidity if I'm wrong lol

Yes you will notice an improvement even with the slushbox! I have had the NST-lite version on my auto for quite a while now... I got mine back in 2007/08 and have used it for approx 75k miles and I love how it revs. This version is even lighter than the NST so it should be even better.

Worthwhile upgrade!

Echo uses same pulley as the Scion bB/xB/xA, they already have 3 or 4 companies making those.

Thank you sir. We had a little problem with the smoothness of the grooves and are having that fixed. Very sorry for the delay everyone, but the part that touches the belt IS kind of important.
