for the price difference, you get more with the ultragauge. ecometer displays like two different things where as the ultragauge displays 6 and will reset trouble codes and CEL codes. (not sure if the ecometer does this).

I'm still a big fan of the scangauge 2 though the price difference is huge at roughly twice the cost.

Best investment for MPG? At the endo of it, the best bang for the buck is still air pressure! For the most part it is free...

I agree with air pressure. On a car as light as the Yaris the extra air doesn't cause that much early tire wear. If you are diligent about tire rotation and constantly check the tires for pressure, you can get about 2-4 extra mpg by over inflating the tires.

Not quite what I'm looking for; but that's definitely neat enough haha. I was looking more along the lines of simple mechanical things you could do; and what their benefits are. ... Just 3 more months til I move. . . then i'm gonna say a few weeks to get a job. . . then I'll have two months before school starts again. . . Hopefully at some point during all that I'll be able to throw some $$ into some gas-mods. :D

Only investment that gained me MPG was my Injen CAI. I tested before and after and I gained almost 2mpg. The down side is torque is fairly noticeable and sound is great so you get on it a little more and then I'm right back to where I started mpg wise. :)

For the Canadians on here, I recommend MolySlip; maybe there is a US equivalent, the description is "molybdenum disulfide in suspension". I am sure I am getting 5-10% better mileage by using it in every second oil change...

what tire pressure would you guys recommend is best? we have a lot of pot holes in MI so i couldnt over inflate them.

For the tire pressure question: I am using the max sidewall which is 44psi on both sets of tires that I have had. (101K miles)
If you are not comfortable with that, start at 40psi and try it for a month.

There are a number heated discussions in the threads about raising tire pressure over the number on the door placard. But 40 to 44 seems to be good range for those that want to raise it.

For me increasing from the dealer set pressure of 28psi got me from 36 to 40Mpg. Practicing my commute with a ScanGaugeII for 6 months got me from 40 to 45Mpg.

We use 35 > 36 p.s.i. and get 38+ m.p.g.. Easier on the tires and suspension when hitting that unsuspected pothole . Getting little over 41 m.p.g. at this time with 4 Blizzak WS70s set at 35 .

I heard somewhere that the sidewall max pressure has to do with mounting the tire, then it is pulled down to doorpost recommendations. Personally, I run about 4lbs below mounting pressure, big increase in mileage, and somehow the car feels more "alive"...

I try to stick right around 40 myself. The ride seems lighter; less rigid.

I wouldnt think 45 psi would be too much pending what you're tire's rated. . someone on here I remember mentioning they run theirs at like 60 psi haha.

so you installed the cai and you gained low end torque and gas mileage? Wow that is pretty sweet.
