Problems?
Okay, so i bought my 2009 Toyota Yaris at the end of October of this year. So i've had it for like, 2 months.
The brakes have become very mushy, to the point where i have to forcefully push them as far as they can go to stop the vehicle at any given speed. One morning I was doing around 25 mph, and the car just wouldnt go any more, so i pressed the pedal down far, and nothing happened..so i pulled over..just checked things out, and it was fine after that. So I take it back to toyota, I have them check it all and everything, and they stood there and called me crazy and said nothing was wrong with the vehicle. Has these problems happened to anyone else? And also, does anyone have problems with the automatics not shifting after 40 mph? |

Okay, it sounds like you have a lemon. Drive it to another Toyota dealer to have it checked out. They can't be the only Toyota dealer in your area.

It is because you did not let it warm up upon starting it. The "cool temp light" on the dash must go off before driving. It will not shift properly and stays in 3rd gear. I think it is a MAJOR safety issue and am probably going to get rid of my yaris for this issue.
Another STUPID idea from toyota... |

It's also better to drive the car slowly as soon as you start it versus idling. Better for fuel efficiency and better for the maintenance of your car. Seems like you hate a lot of things about your Yaris. I suggest you research and test something better before you buy it next time. Sure, the Yaris is far from perfect and some things about it annoy me (The warm up feature which prevents proper shifting until a proper engine temp is reach, included), but the Yaris is a great car for what it was intended to do. |

Everyone must be really stressed out from christmas shopping or something, it's like a 24/7 whine-fest, pitty party, bash-o-rama around here lately.

The warming thing with the auto is for emissions reasons. When your car is cold it emits worse fumes than warmed up. So the tranny doesn't up shift into the overdrive gears until it reaches a certain temp. It helps the engine warm up faster. With my ECHO i Have this. Its annoying but oh well, as long as the car starts and keeps going I can't complain.

I have my opinion and you have yours. I don't like that you and others flame me because I don't live in your "Toyota is God world". I like my yaris very much BUT it is NOT the best thing since sliced bread. It does what I bought it to do...save gas and be reasonably dependable and low cost of ownership, PERIOD...So stop your flaming and whining and understand that not everything is perfect with this car... |
