High Cost of Repairing Advanced Tech Cars
Hadn't given this much thought, but sure makes the case for owning a car without all the tech bloat.

With the age of being able to order a vehicle to your door via mobile app, do you suspect the long-term maintenance issues from tech bloat, or otherwise, will be much of an issue for people in the future?
Seems like later generations are not interested in driving at all, much less owning a car long-term. Interesting times. |

Makes new car shopping today a huge turn off personally.
We are being forced to subsidize (& beta test) so-called 'safety' technology, both in up-front purchase costs & the inevitable repair costs, that actually really only belongs (or is needed) in 100% self-driving cars. Society really is becoming a perpetually-distracted, self-absorbed/narcissistic, lazy idiocracy that needs to be protected from itself by 'big brother'. Fun fun. - Last edited by Kalispel; 09-18-2018 at 08:32 PM. |

maintenance is the first thing i think about. cars are constantly breaking. when ever my son points at a Ferrari or Lamborghini and says, "look at that!" i'm like, "what are those? carbon brake package? that's like a $10,000 brake job." or i comment on price of oil change, or 30,000 mile service, or tires, or a wheel.
no matter how much money i ever have i don't think i could ever pay more than $75,000 (usd) for a vehicle. i could always make it better for cheaper |

consumer-ism. thats what is really changing the culture and mindset. commercials that enforese you need to live in the moment and have a certain something to be relevant, and while you are beautiful and good now, you could be prettier and gooder if you had *insert* product.
I took notice of this when I asked about headlamp replacements on an infini Q50 and nearly choked when they said they dont supply bulbs or parts for headlamps you just buy a new one from Nissan.. and it was more than 4 digits. |
