This question is for everyone who installed the cruise control. How did you guys remove those screws that is removed by using the #27 torx? Those screws are so tight it is impossible to loosen them.

On DIY it's not even mentioned how to take the steering wheel apart other than use #27 torx to remove the airbag. I guess no one else had this problem. Parts of my palms are all red b/c of forcing it too much. Am I doing something wrong?

On my 09 the airbag screws came off easily with a 1/4" drive socket torx bit. I initially tried the torx bit with a screwdriver, but couldn't break them loose. The extra leverage of the 1/4" ratchet was more than enough.

Can you put a picture of the part you are talking about? When I googled it, I couldn't figure out how I can use it together with the #27 torx I got from Sears.

If you bought a T27 1/4" screwdriver bit, you can make a DIY version of the above, by sticking the bit in a 1/4" socket and wrapping it with tape so it doesn't just fall out.

i used a socket torx bit... just what i had.. worked great.. as for remvoing the steering wheel... once you have the airbag out of the way.. and MARKED the alignment of the wheel and post... i just wiggled gently but firmly (dont damage the clockspring) and the wheel came loose with only a minute of wiggling.

Hye guys... I want to install the CC on my 08 CND Sedan and I am wondering if anyone has a template as to where to punch/cut the hole for the stalk on the cover?

My wife would be very upset with me if I make a bo bo

thanks guys!

I purchased my stalk off ebay along with a Scion Tc steering wheel.

This is what the OEM hole looks like:

There was a rubber bushing that mounted over the fins, which fit tightly around the stalk and flexed as the stalk moved:

I mounted the bushing to my rear cover and then used the center of it as my drill guide (I drilled a 1" round hole, rather than trying to duplicate the square one:

Cruise Stalk Bushing2.jpg

Before I installed the bushing I scanned it. Here's a PDF of it. Print it without scaling and it will print a perfect one. You can either cut one out of rubber, or just use the paper one as your template:
