Fuel Economy Reports
I see the 2nd generation discussion area has a Fuel Economy topic so I decided to add one for our third generation Yaris.
On two tankfuls I got 43.05 and 43.15 on a 2012 5 speed manual Yaris L. This was using non-oxygenated fuel, as I live in the Colorado front range, but am in a county that does not require oxygenated fuel (extra ethanol). Oxygenated fuel in use in the Denver metro area from October 15 to March 15 gives you about 10% poorer mileagethis is based on my experience on my 2000 Eldorado. . You're getting great FE. Do you drive a lot of high way?
I drive about half city and half highway. I filled up today at 201 mi @ 6.8 gals = 29.55 MPG My Brother filled up today for the first time, but he does a lot of city and local driving. He drove 176 mi and filled 6.9 gals to full. So 25.50 MPG. We're from the chicago burbs. We have a lot of additives in our gas. I believe we have our winter blend already. I want to see how much MPG we over the progression of time, but I can't wait to see what we get in the summer time with the summer blend. |

90% highway driving, but up and down mountains from 8800 ft to 5700 ft and back to 8800.

can you guys verify how close the computer average mpg is to the actual mpg (miles driven divided by gallons used)?
thanks. |

It was about 1-2 MPG off for me and my brother. Its close enough for me. I'll do a reset next time I fill up before work. I'll go back after work and refill up and we'll get a closer estimate of accuracy.

it wont be a very accurate comparison unless its done on a full tank of use.

Coasting gives you poorer mileage, compared to just letting off the throttle. The computer shuts the fuel flow off when throttle is zero, whereas coasting makes it think you are idling, thus burning a small amount of fuel.

id guess you will be up around 44-46 mpg's in the spring when the air warms up and the regular gas blend is back in use. |

I have an 09 sedan 5spd and at nearly 100% hwy averaging near the speed limit (70mph) I got 458miles on just over 10.5gallons. That's roughly 43.6mpg. No coasting. Again, cruising at near the speed limit the whole way with absolutely no attempt at fuel efficiency.
That being said over 40mpg should be easily achieved Last edited by NZ-FE Vios; 12-07-2011 at 05:05 PM. |

Filled up today got 30.8 mpg for 327 miles. Not bad at all in fact i'm extremely happy! I had a 2008 Nissan Pathfinder that would've been 147 miles and for more money! My driving is a huge combination of city driving and highway driving. Chicago driving is a bisnitch! Haha!
