Custom gauge cluster
Hey all
The yaris was designed to be a left hand drive car. With the Sedan they kinda designed it to be both. I have a right hand drive and it feels like a factory convert to right. I say this because the gauges are not really as close to the driver side. The meters especially. Revs are too far from my vision. This really bothers me. I tried to get Torque and ELM327 so I can use my phone as a set of gauges but thanks to my car using JOBD that is not an option as it doesnt work. I am NOT a fan of those aftermarket autogauges (esp those big az 6" meter that goes up to 11k rpm) So I was thinking, a bit adventurous, why not I build my own set of gauges. I would do this by taking some existing toyota clusters and running them in parallel, then I would make a custom pod to make it fit where the drivers side glove box is. My question is, are there any standard signals used in toyotas for instrument clusters? Can I take lets say a 1998 celica gauge set, and have it run in parallel with my existing gauge (by matching up the corresponding wires). Since fuel and temp has no anolog meter, will this work on the other analog gauge? Any ideas , comments? Regards |
