why do you want to loosen it?
I thought I needed to when I want to take the arm rest out for a project however you don't. As far as the size I tried several and nothing was quite right. I know a couple of guys have change out there seats and brackets so someone should know. I probably have been -0- help.

It is a Torx socket. You can get a full set at Sears (Lisle brand) for under $10. You'll need them if you do any work behind the dash, as well.

actually its called a star socket they come in e- sizes i.e e-4 e-8 you know. the torx bit is actually the exact same as the bolt itself. like the male version instead of the female the torx bit is kinda like an allen key but like a star

Torx E10. I used that socket twice today when routing my XM antenna lead. I walked in to the local Sears not expecting to find the socket, but they had the complete set still in cardboard which I snagged from the shipping pallet. So, if'in you are short on cash like me and need to borrow my socket I will ship for actual shipping cost both directions.
