2015 Honda Fit

Drove a 2015 Honda FIT today. The base LX model is very well equipped and the price is reasonable at just over 17K.

These are several of my impressions:

Exterior: I like the new sheet metal design and the trim and grille work very much. The hatch opening is huge.

Interior: I found the driver's seat terribly uncomfortable, the dash too busy looking, and the steering wheel ugly. The hatch area's interior body panels are cheap molded fabric. The rest of the interior looks very good.

On the road: The engine feels sluggish and is quite noisy under acceleration. The CVT underperformed. But, the ride is smooth and the cabin quiet when cruising. The car doesn't feel tight, the steering is vague, and there is considerable body roll.

Overall, the 2015 FIT was very disappointing to drive. My 2007 Toyota Yaris with 83K miles just seems SO much better!

Did you just see how much. Trunk space you have in the FIT?

Drove a 2010 manual a while back. I'd take it over a yaris hb any day! But I have a sedan...

$17,000? That's pushing $20,000 OTD.

If I buy another car it will be used!

The new 2015 Honda Fit looks horrible to me from all angles except a straight-on front view. Horrible taillight/reflector design, horrible rear bumper design, horrible side panel design, mediocre alloy wheel design. It looks like something out of a childish and gaudy Transformers movie, or what Korean automakers would design. Ughhh. :(

The Fit doesn't have a trunk, but I get what you are saying.

I love some of the words the British use re automobiles. Bonnet is another one. I remember using a locker at a train station in Madrid. There were different buttons available to display the instructions in different languages. Two of the 6 or 7 buttons were labeled 'English' and 'American' .

There are some quality issues of the '15 FIT from Mexico plant . Hopefully , they'll get them ironed out . Is there not talk of a plant in Mexico for the '15 Yaris ? If so , might be the reason for the move to Texas .

Not for 2015. For 2015, the U.S. is getting the 'refreshed' ('Fu-Manchu' front end, etc.) Yaris assembled in France. See 'Facelifted 2015 Yaris leaked' thread posts #89 through #99 in the 'General' section. Different animal from the future 'Mexico/Mazda Twin' Yaris.
