I don't like the new Yaris
Anyone else think Toyota is "over-styling" the Yarii HB's now?
I have a 2008, and it is simple and cute looking. The new Yarii are starting to look more like the Prius! I do not like what Toyota is doing to the newer Yarii HB! They just can't leave it alone. It was great, and they had to go and mess it up.

Agreed. It's a mini Matrix now. I've seen a few of the new Mazda 3 HB's and have mistaken them for a Yaris. They look more Yaris-y than the new Yaris HB's.

Sorry guys, but it was the styling of the new 2012 Yaris SE (particularly the front) that first attracted me. I prefer the more sculpted look to the rounder look of the 2nd gen. With the slightly lower stance, 16" wheels, and chrome accent around the front chin, I found it more attraqtive.

The new ones are growing on my but I don't see myself being attracted to them as I was mine. Modified ones definitely look better, but I don't think they are nearly as cool as the rounded ones...

To each their own, of course, but I think the new Yaris looks MUCH better than the old design.

The tuned suspension, updated look of the Yaris, and Toyota's reliability is what I love about this car! If it would have kept its old look, I would not even consider the Yaris. I do respect people's opinions for the older yarii though. I just prefer the 2012 Yaris.

When your new Toyota starts looking like a Mazda... you know you are in trouble! And what happened to the speedo in the center of the dash ??? They had to go and move it behind the steering wheel... just like EVERY OTHER CAR on the road. The Yaris used to be "unique". Now it's just another SUB COMPACT. That's ok, i'm keeping my `08 forevah!

I haven't seen too many 2012 cars to make a definite decision, although the ones that I have seen I would say that the Yaris now has a more modern look. I am not a big fan of chrome .. and really that would be the one thing that I would hate to see lots of. I am just happy that the Yaris isn't as ugly as the Echo used to be, now that would be a step backwards.

I think it looks too much like a squished version of the Matrix/Vibe.

I haven't seen a 2012 in person yet. But from photos, I think the exterior is OK, but I absolutely HATE they have moved the speedometer from the center.

the only reason i considered a 12 is because it doesn't look like a bubble with wheels.
and the se had a few tweaks that i liked. |
