Lowering my 2005 echo hatch?? Help

Hey I am a new user to this forum, I recently picked up a 2005 Toyota echo hatchback here in Vancouver Canada. I will be using it as a daily driver but of course be modifying it along the way:)

After one week of owning it I have switched the seats from base model and upgraded it to "RS" . Its much nicer and way more comfortable!

ANYWAYS.....

I'm looking to put some lowering spring in the car but am unsure what to go for. Believe it or not there is not a whole lot of USEFUL info on these cars....

Few reputable brands I have found:

Tien S tech springs --http://www.ebay.com/itm/TEIN-S-TECH-...-/270779881453

B&G = http://www.ebay.com/itm/B-G-S2-LOWER...-/350860011007

ANY RECOMMENDATIONS?

I'm thinking about running a 16x8 et 25 wheel on the car so dont want to slamm it. run a 205/40r16 tire

I'd go for the teins but the drop isnt even

I also wouldn't recommend 16x8 wheels with lowering springs

What do you have in your car?

Suggest Coilovers instead of lowering springs?

16x8 et 25 , too aggressive? I'm just getting ideas here I currently have the stock 14x6s with Winters on rocking stock suspension!.....

stock have 14x5 or 14x5.5. i don't remember, but they are definitely not 14x6.

You might want to look at something like 16x6.5 or 16x7 ET35-38 instead.

I'm just going by what Toyota and the tire shop said.....lol maybe it is smaller, I'm unsure.

As for 16x8, I did find some info as one of the members "1.5" on here is running:
16x8 et15 which will poke out 10 mm more than the setup im looking at. I also am not going to be anywhere close to that low. The tire size he is running is also way undersized so he doesn't rub and maintains lowz. 165/45 r 16 nankang.

There isn't alot of First Generation Echo guys on here that have much done to their hatchbacks. Im thinking I should still follow the general rule and do Suspension before wheels that way I can outweigh my options.

Im not heart set on 16x8 et 25 I just know of a awesome wheel that I have not seen done on these cars. It will also match the silver very well if its pulled off nicely

Back to square one what suspension should I look at? LOL

I have a frankenstein coilover setup in my car, I'm waiting for my 15x6.5 wheels to come back from the paint shop.

Here's a guide that I found helpful:
http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5021

If you do decide to go with the 16x8s I do recommend coilovers

If you can get your hands on a set of coilovers for the Echo.. get it. They are rare now and you won't be able to find much else.

Quality wise, you can't do much better than Tein, nor can you easily beat that price (for new).

Yeh I spoke with Rob this morning its the last set they have in stock and are selling. Reason for the price is they are discontinued through Tien....

Anyhow for 800 I might have to jump on it just outweighing my options due to the fact its winter!

I have 16x7 +40 with 205/40/16 on mine

Best fit I have had so far, they did rub in the back. I have Tein coilovers all the way down in the back and two or three rings from the bottom in the front.

Looks GREAT!!!

How do you like the coilovers? nice ride?> not terribly bouncy?

I put stock wheels back on cause we are driving to Whistler today.

Will just start another "build thread" in the other section!

Its a fairly good ride, soft springs though...not very good for Track use. Im looking to get new coilovers, maybe next year, with a lot stiffer springs and adjustability. Leaning towards KW Variant 3's.
