Adding DRL to an LE model?
Just wondering if anyone has attempted to add the DRL's to their 3rd Gen? From what I can tell, it's just a matter of adding the DRL Relay/module. Looks like all the wiring is in place.
I'm just not even sure what would act as the DRL, the H4 bulb like the 2nd Generation? Anyone have any thoughts on this? |

Just like the 2nd gen, there are very significant wiring changes to add the OEM DRL module to a non-DRL 3rd gen Yaris. If you really want DRLs, your best bet is an aftermarket set of DRLs.

The service manual shows that some do and some do not. It may be a package option, like it was in the 2nd gen.

Thanks for the info. Yeah, I've got an LE without factory DRL's. Not worth the work for me, so I'll ignore it for now... Moving onto adding some LEDS into my rest reflectors.

My 2007 has DRLs..I think they were part of either the Cold Weather Package or the Convenience Package.
DRLs were standard on my 2014 (my sales rep took a picture of the factory sticker and sent it to me as a PDF). On my 2007, the DRLs come on without doing anything other than turning the key.....no 'lights completely off' mode' at all. On my 2014, the 'first click on the stalk' is labeled DRL. The final click = lights on, and before touching the stalk/turning to the first click = liights completely off. |

Hmm... I thought DRL's were a required safety feature for all vehicles now. Wish my 2007 had DRL's (I've got the Convenience package).

The more I think about it, the DRLs on my 2007 were part of the Cold Weather Package. IIRC, the Cold Weather Package for the 2007 model year included 3 items -- Heater vents under the front seats, a heavy duty alternator, and the DRLs. I was living in California when I bought my new 2007, but I purchased the car in Rhode Island. The owners of that dealership had moved the car from another Toyota dealership they owned in Connecticut that appeared on the factory sticker. IIRC, the Cold Weather Package is/was available only in states so designated by Toyota.

Yeah, I did some searching and CTScott is right, adding the wiring and relays and switches neccessary, I've got a couple days and over $100 worth of parts ahead of me...and for that money/effort, I could buy aftermarket LED strips and wire them as DRL's and they'd most likely look much more modern.
Project abandoned. |

For sure, best way is surrounding headlights with SMD 335 side view LED light strip.
It give more glow lights than to DRL under radiator grill. |

I'm thinking of getting LED DRL daytime running lights fog lights (all in one) to my 2012. Its available on ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/TOYOT..._qi=RTM1793693
The price isn't bad however I'm wondering if I gonna have to get a new switch from Toyota (the one on the left hand side. standard one has got only back fog light switch) and also is it easy to fit? |
