Good brand solvents?
Hey, does anyone know of any solvents that are really good for removing annoying stuff like tar and grease off the side panels? I was thinking of using the 3m prep solvent 70 but it looks like that might take off the paint apparently.
Thanks for any responses! |

just about any auto degreaser you can find will do the job.
and if i were you, depending on how concentrated the thing is, i would dillute it with water.

The strongest thing that I know of that won't hurt paint at all is Acrysol. It is made by Kent. It is WAY stronger than Goo-gone and Goof-off etc. Go-kart shops usually stock it.

Thanks for the insight. I tried the goof off and it worked fine for most spots, but i still had to put in a lot of elbow grease for some areas. I think i might try the acrysol.

Dish washing liquid, straight or diluted works and it's environmentally friendly, no harsh or toxic chemicals. Be environmentally friendly!

Rubbing alcohol will do the trick you can either use it straight or mixed with water. Just make sure you apply wax after you do this if not you're going to be riding around with no protection at all.
