2NZ Pick me up advice - Toyota Yaris Forums

Hey all, I bought a little hatchback 1.3L yaris early last year (2009 model) and have found myself wanting a little more get up and go. I'm not worried about any top speeds but just want a bit more response from the throttle. Not really looking to go the forced induction route as I live in the middle of nowhere and trying to get it tuned would be an absolute nightmare. Open to any and all suggestions (including turbo if you have ideas/advice on the ecu etc). I also recently purchased some BMW bottlecap wheels (14x6) to go on it mostly for looks, but they are also a lb or something lighter I think than my stock steelies. Any recommendations on tyre profile for those as well? Thinking a 195/60/14?

If you do any kind of go faster mods be willing to throw a motor in the thing if you destroy it (around me I can pick me up a low mileage one for like 250-350$) I am on my 3rd one.

Can always pick up a cheap Nitrous kit like a Nitrous Express mainline (ML2000) for 400$ then add a walbro 255 fuel pump to the car to get an easy 50hp for like 600$ (just have to watch for detonation trust me). Just finding a place to refill the bottle would be a hassle I have a guy 15min from me who fills it for 50$. I also have a post on an ECU you can get from Malaysia for 470$ shipped (no tuner will tune it you gotta learn how to tune it.) They will only push 150hp reliable before you start fighting with the connecting rods wanting to shoot out the block (That is for the 1NZ).

Swap the 2nz for a 1nz

1NZ/C56 swap would be the easiest.

Thanks all. I should have mentioned the car only has 60k kms on it or just over so I want to try and stick with this engine. If I blow it up though I'll definitely go bigger, 1.5 or 1.8 or something.

clutch, lightened flywheel, lsd and final drive, all easy things to do and drastically make the car quicker

intake manifold and throttle body is biggest limitations on power. with custom intake and aftermarket ecu 2NZ makes more power than stock 1NZ.
