How much for insurance?
So I call up my insurance company (been with them 10 years) and ask about the 2007 Yaris. She doesn't even have the car in her computer. So she does an estimate (what she compaired it to I have no idea) and she comes up with approx. $85 a month for full coverage.
$250 Comp and $500 Collision deductables, the rest of the coverages maxed out just about... Not bad huh? What about everyone else? Last edited by bikergal; 05-16-2006 at 10:32 AM. |

I don't know if Can./U.S. prices are comparable. I pay a little less than that, but I'm older and live in a low population area.

well my lincense is all messed up for multiple tickets in the 2003 so i was qouted like 400-450. Until the dealership found me some good insurance for 250 full coverage and a sr22 (which i need because of my messed up license)

In British Columbia (Canada), there is one main insurance company: ICBC.
There are others as well, but most of the province uses ICBC. My premium is CAD $2033 for the year. That's about $170 per month. Covers $2 million third-party liability, and deductible is $300 for both comprehensive and collision. I believe the Yaris has a passive immobilizer, and I received an anti-theft discount because of that. |

My insurance on the Yaris is only about $50, but we have two cars with them and also have our homeowners insurance through them.

Saskatchewan = exact same coverage, I'm 23, a -3 driving record until June (when it all gets cleared off) and pay 132$/month for the EXACT same coverage, except my deductable is 100$ for both comprehensive, collision, vandalism, and windshield repair. |

I was estimated at about $800 US for the year, including a two car 5% discount and an alarm discount.
We'll see what the insurance company really says it is when they make it up.

I'm at -25% discount, but I would've been at -40% had I not got into an accident nine years ago. To further compare numbers, ICBC's BASE premium for the 2007 Yaris Hatchback is roughly 2600 dollars. That's if you are at base rate, no surcharge or discount. Still pretty expensive if you ask me... But us British Columbians have to deal with ICBC, which is a crown/provincial corporation, 99% of the time. Even people who deal with Canadian Direct insurance maybe get at most another 5% off. It depends a lot on location (& commute). Start in the centre of the GTA & prices usually go down as you start to move out towards the sticks.
The best I could get for the Yaris was around $150/monthly. I could've brought that down if I had home/other insurance with the same company. Still a rip. Oh well. Last edited by Dylanby; 05-18-2006 at 10:30 PM. |

The minimum (min liability only) is $61/mo and full coverage would be $244.72/mo ($250 deductale) for me.

Just a heads up here... if you plan on having a loan out on a new car you will be expected to have full coverage (comp and collison) otherwise you won't be able to get a loan |

Well.... really think about it. Even if you buy it outright do you really want a brand new car on the road with no Comp or Collision? To me that is taking a huge risk All you need is for someone to hit you who doesn't have insurance and you are screwed big time.... Good Luck and be careful |
