Braces...

I got my DeeDee braces for Christmas. I’ve just bought a couple of 1F8 in 11 oz spray cans. Hopefully I get them before next weekend. For now I’m gonna scuff this up, then spray it a few times with flat black primer, tape up the inner part so they’d stay black, then color match the outer border.

Been a bit busy, and had to do some research on the clear coat to use, went with the 2K which I had to order online. Anyway here’s what it looks like now, painted the grill mesh with 5 coats of rustoleum bumper black, no clear coat cause I want it to stay flat. Maybe I’ll get to put it on today if I have time.

Nice! Looks great. Did you use the SprayMax? I think they have a low gloss or matte clear.

Yup, they have a satin and a matte. Matte is #3680065

Thanks, yeah I went with Spray Max, I found out later about the matte clear after I’ve already painted it. I’d have order more paint anyway, I ran out of 1F8 painting the grill and the rear bumper. I want to now bondo blend and color match the front lip. I also messed with the spoiler with the very little left over 1F8, just wanted to see what it’d look like. I want to fill the mounting holes and the slit in the middle which appears to be for space allocation for the antenna.

Also here’s the new profile look... I want to adjust how front lip is mounted so it’s parallel to the ground, also flare out the ends at the wheel well. Now looking for side skirts, probably will go with something made for another car again.

Coming together very nicely.

Thanks! No where near yours though...

Anyway, I just discovered, through a couple of YouTubers, that some people have put a V6 in an MRS. Either a 1MZ or 2GR, and also put a 1AR-FE. Knowing that those engines fit in a small engine bay I might go with something similar, even though the 2ZR is a straight bolt in. We’ll see, nothing's set in stone.

Thanks! I’m glad you like it. There’s more to come, like side skirts and maybe new wheels. I want to go up to 16s. Also as you can see here, I’ve adjusted the front lip, so it’s now parallel to the ground. But now I have to add materials to the ends, at the wheel wells. I trimmed too much from the initial install, and wished didn’t throw them away. After that, I’ll see if I can blend it to the bumper, and then color match. I’m happy with its current height, but would like to replace the stock shocks. Currently been busy with other things, we'll see if I can start on this project again before the end of next month.

Clean car. These cars look a million times better with a hatch spoiler.

Thank you! I agree about the spoiler. I like your car as well. Before my grill swap, I almost experimented with swapping a 3rd Gen front into a 2nd Gen, but now I'm happy with my Dee Dee.

As previously mentioned there's more to come.

Car is looking awesome! I really think the 2-door has a sportier look than the 4-door. I do like the practicality of the 4 door, as I have kids, but the 2-door def looks better.

Thank you! I didn’t know for a while that the 2 doors and 4 doors have the same wheelbase. I was ignoring the side skirts that I found before cause it thought they were for 4 doors. Now I can’t find them for the price that I want, we'll just have to experiment with sides skirts from another car, or something else completely. Here’s a front shot for now. I really need to get that front lip painted, I hate how it blends with the shadow during a photo op.
