SSR wheels anyone?

I talked to this shop... and they're giving me great price on SSR type C.

What do you guys think of 18x7.5 + 42? anyone riding on SSR wheels? I love their lightweight wheels. I also love their SP1 I think they look really good.

ooo those are sexy i think with the +42 offset you should be fine although if your wanting lightweight i wouldn't go more than 16. are you lowered?

well... I guess I'm more looking into the looks. I go to meets a lot and DD the car. I go shows but I'm not too hardcore about it. Not looking to race... maybe if I get an opportunity to run on a track that would be nice. At this moment I am lowered on Tanabe DF210... hoping this won't be a problem running 18s.

I agree with 16s. I actually like the look better and in researching wheels can't count the threads of people who have 17s wishing they'd gone smaller. Can't imagine any wheel, forged or not, will hold up on LA potholes with rubber bands on them. Even with SSRs your gaining a few pounds at 18 in, tires will most likely be heavier and much more expensive. Looks is the only pro and the cons go on and on. Maybe if it wasn't a DD...

Give Cali_Yaris a PM, he could get you some competitive pricing on some SSR wheels.

i have 16x7" SSRs and they are about 10.5lbs each? But I have a 50 tire on them; so it's not super light. However, lighter than most 16" wheels out there.

IMHO, if you aren't serious about performance, I wouldn't suggest getting the SSRs. No point in having them, besides being able to "show them off." If I wasn't boosted, I wouldn't be sporting the SSRs, because there are a lot of other nicer wheels out there!

Here's two comparison pics. I had some 17" gram lights that I thought looked 10x better; but the performance wasn't there. So i stayed with my SSRs. However, if I didn't care about performance, I would have kept those gramlights, no doubt about it!!!! :)

17" Gram lights..

16" SSRs..

ps: like mentioned earlier; i don't know what kind of pricing you are getting on the SSRs, but PM cali_yaris. he's a dealer and offers some great pricing. I got my SSRs from him (used).

They can't beat my prices. And they aren't a vendor supporting this site.

SSR no longer makes black Type C, just gun metal and bronze.

Yes, for the Type C you can order custom colors, as long as it's an existing SSR color (for example, silver, black, white). Retail on custom colors is $100 extra per wheel. (of course, I don't charge retail). It's a custom order, so you would have to wait 30-60 days for a shipment from the factory in Japan.

For some other wheels, like the SP1, there is no additional charge for any color.

Hope that helps answer your questions.

Very nice... thanks for the help. Do you happen to know the other custom colors they offer? Or better yet, when I'm ready I may just have to buy from you!

"any existing SSR color". So you can look at the full line of SSR wheels and pick colors from those. I don't think they do stuff like green or pink, if you know what I mean. More like flat black, gloss black, silver, gold, gun metal, bronze.

ah! gotcha... good deal. They all look good. I guess I'll have to look at all of their line up.
