2.5" intake is too big, won't work with the MAF

forget the axleback and get a custom-made exhaust from the resonator back. the cats and resonator are 2" thru and the exhaust shrinks to 1.75" after the resonator. i had mine replaced last week....its worth the effort. skip the high flow cat, not worth the time/effort.

get a dc header because all the other headers are junk

nst underdrive crank pulley and lightweight water pump and alternator

1zz throttle body is ok

1zz injectors not likely req'd for n/a setup

wait for cali_yaris's intake manifold

get lightweight 15" rims, skip the 16's

Haha i didn't realise the piping for the cat and resonator were 2" already. Only remembered the exhaust place saying that the piping that they cut off from mid to muffler was 1.75". Guess that's good that i got 2" piping down then.

Hehe learnt some new info.

About 3 or 4 weeks ago, I tried to do a DIY axleback and failed miserable, because I read many times on the forum that our stock axleback exhaust pipe diameter was 1.75", but it's actually smaller than that. I measured a 1 3/8" ID for the piping just before it enters the muffler. I have an '08 Yaris 'S', but It should not be different than any other Yaris hatchback.

The 1nz-fe have a 11:1 compression ratio but the prius have a 13:1 compression ratio. What is the different? Piston or culass (head) ...

Because I think that for the N/A setup, if we boost the compression ratio, we can win 10 hp... maybe!?!?

Prius has a 1nz-fxe which has a completely different style head for efficiency. Though, you are correct that it has a 13:1 compression ratio. The lower end is also suppose to be the same as the 1nz-fe. Your best bet would be to do a 1nz-fxe bottom end with an adapted 1nz-fe head. There is a thread with a lot of details on the possibilities of this somewhere on clubxb.com, though it has not been done yet.

I personally wanna see this done, I just don't have the money to do it right now since I'm building an S13.

no, the prius bottom end is nothing special.

Tamago didn't you look up the piston part number and they were different?

Very true. I just looked everything back up.

The extra compression appears to come from the different pistons, no? Someone on scionlife saw gains with 11:1 pistons and an emanage tune.

Barber what do you think about getting a custom exhaust done from the catback instead of the resonator back? Why did you recommend to the OP that he start after the resonator?

Is there any other exhaust piping that needs to be increased to 2" besides the resonator-to-muffler piping?

Also if you're running an axleback already would it be easy to go to a muffler shop and have them convert from an axleback to a catback?
