The Mazda Yaris Clone

I was at Mazda looking at Miatas yesterday. I saw the newest Mazda which looks exactly like a clone of a Yaris. In fact I thought it WAS a Yaris! It has a 1.5 liter engine and the nice thing was the cost was (depending on options)
$13.5K-15.5k + $750 deliveery AND THATS IT! No long list of options that added $$$$ to the price. If this car was availible in 2009 I would have seriously considered it over the Yaris. My Miatas were EXCELLENT quality.

The Mazd2. 100hp 1.5 liter DOHC 16 valve, 4 cyclinder engine. MSRP comes out to 15,530 (Sport) and 16,985 (Touring) US$ for AT. 14,730 (Sport) and 16,185 (Touring) US$ for MT.
From their website. MSRP doesn't include added $ from dealers. Oohh - MSRP are from my zip code. Yours may turn out differently

IMO, the Mazda2 looks nothing like the Yaris. The only similarity is that it's a subcompact hatch.

There's already a large thread on the Mazda2.

This is a turd.

The fiesta, however, is a pretty cool compact. Very nice features on the top-end.

I'd say the Suzuki Swift is more Yaris-like. (are these sold in US? I don't know)

To each his own, I guess. I've always thought the Hyundai i20 has features similar to the Yaris...

You do know that the Fiesta and the Mazda2 are nearly the exact same car?

current and previous AVEO's are DAEWOOs . Suzuki would be better choice for powertrain .

They all copy cat each other in some fashion really. Seeing as how Mazda and Ford have had a long time relationship it is easy to see that this is of the Fiesta...kind of reminds me of the days when the Mercury Capri was another of the Mustang.
