Noisy fuel pump or not

Hi Guys,

Just wondering if anyone can shed a light.

First of all, I have a 2007 Yaris YRS 5 door hatchback (automatic). For the past few months, my car has been making a moderate whining noise. I have pinpointed the sound from the underneath the car at the rear seats. It seems to be a fuel pump issue as inspected by a mechanic. We replaced the fuel pump + filter with a aftermarket (generic) one. Very expensive, about $600. However, it is still making a light whining noise, and it's giving me the creeps.

One thing I need to add is if I don't drive the car for a few days, when I roll forward or reverse from park, the car doesn't seem to want to go when I press the throttle. This seem to coincide with the whining noise I have been experiencing. Does this seem to be a bigger issue? Maybe engine/transmission problem?

Could the exhaust or catalytic convertor also make this whining noise

Thanks in advance.
