Front and Rear Sensors
Hi to all,
Has anyone had the front and rear parking sensors fitted and are they worth having. Regards: Ross |

I have these on another car, and they are really good. An alternative when parking in town is to look at the adjacent shop window and use as a mirror. You can get very close front and back.

I got the rear sensors, they were fitted as a gift on my yaris. Anyways rear are good to have, they can be useful, but front is useless. No need for them, unless you are a shitty at parking. Cheers.

Front sensor may be a nice touch for those of us who are lowered with front lip spoiler/air dam. Perhaps not as great a concern with the Yaris as the nose is so short but avoiding just one encounter "lip vs. parking curb" could justify the cost.

Thanks for your replies.
Zing do you have genuine Toyota 2 sensors or 3 - 4 aftermarket sensors fitted on the back. I have heard the front sensors have a on/off switch if not required for general driving. In Sydney I have yet to see any Yaris on the road fitted with sensors (plenty of larger Toyota cars) but quite a few with front bumper bar damage. |

Yeh I'm one of the few Yaris here with sensors. Well the toyota company payed and put on my sensors so I am guessing they are genuine, but somehow I doubt it hehe. I got 4 sensors on the back. And yup there is the Off button.

I dunno the yaris is quite compact I don't think having rear sensors is worth it and especially not front since the nose is pretty short. If need be you could just quickly pop out of the car and have a look that's unless you're lazy
Oh yeah I forgot Toyota in Australia off both front and rear park assist. Last edited by Chaubii; 01-24-2009 at 06:33 AM. Reason: Left out some info |

Yeh not quite necessary at the front, but you can never have too many eyes in the back. Always something there, a rock, a sign, a pole, anything you coudlve missed. It's very necessary for me you have not seen the parking challenges i face.

Hehe yeah most of the places I park are easy and I avoid tight parking spaces like the plague. I don't trust other people . Actually I think a rear reverse camera would be better than sensors and I wouldn't mind getting one.

See if you can get a deal on cruise control and reverse parking sensors.

i once had a dodge intrepid , and i only had two sensors placed evenly in the rear - guess what - it couldn't detect a 3 inch wide pole and BAM. |

Yup you need 4 sensors for sure. 2 sensors are not enough.

Yes they are in the bumper , bought the kit locally for $40.NZ and paid another $40.NZ to have the color matched spray painted, fitted them myself .

This is my install.
Here is the screen display I had mounted above my rear view mirror. It makes sense to have the display mounted there because you should be looking at your rear view mirror whilst reversing. Here is a picture of the sensors color matched and embedded in the rear bumper.
