Eibach vs. Stock Springs
Greetings, I have read many posts regarding suspension upgrades and received info from Jeff @ Micro Image. My questions are, with the Eibach Pro Kit is the ride of the car similar to the stock springs? As the springs "stacks up" while compressing in a turn, how does the cars handling change during turn in and while fully loaded in a corner. How different does this spring set compare to the Tanabe NF210 while driving in a sporting fashion?
Ultimately are you just lowering the car to improve the handling with these spring kits and the ride is the same? I am also considering the Tokico Blue shock setup. Thank you, Tom...... |

Can't compare the springs because I don't know the spring rates, but generally manufacturers will make variable rate springs so the "soft" part is about as firm as the stock rate (or in eibach's case, softer) to keep the ride soft, then it gets stiffer to lessen body roll and bottoming out.
These springs won't increase handling much as they're fairly soft, but they do make a small difference. Handling doesn't get better by lowering as much as it does via a stronger spring rate.

hey, im in nf while posting this
i had prokits for a winter setup a cuople years ago. i LOVE eibach springs. the ride is a bit firmer than stock, but since they have progressive rates, they firm up nicely when theyre compressed. right now im on eibach sportlines for more drop, but i stuck with eibach tanabe nf's will be much closer to a stock ride, but since they have a linear rate, they only ever be 5% firmer than stock (or whatever tanabe touts) imo, you can't go wrong with eibach. the only issue with the prokits is that its only a 1" drop (even settled) prokits with 205-55-15 tires sportlines with 205-50-15 tires

Having had both the Sports and Pros, Barber, you seem to be a good person to ask. Are the sports still a pretty comfortable ride? I am okay with a little more stiffness. AND do you scrape on everything? Or is there any rubbing? I also have 15"s. Having a tough time deciding on springs.

both the sportlines and prokits have progressive rates...thought the sportlines are a bit firmer....so yes theyre fine for daily driving....my wife drives the yaris to/from work every day
i don't scrape on anything with the sportlines...its not THAT low the pic with the prokits are with 205-55-15's and the prokits are with 205-50-15's.....205-55's fill up the fender a LOT more than 50's frankly, im running taller tires for the winter (about the 205-55 height and there is very little fender space...and the tires rub the fender sometimes (but im also on steelies from a base cobalt) see:
