Noob questions.
I’m new here and I don’t even own a Yaris yet. But I am in the process of finding one I am happy with. Until I do I am trying to learn everything I can about the Yaris. So if you guys could help me get some things straight that would be much appreciated. So I am going to write out what I think I know and if I am wrong please correct me. No doubt you wouldn’t have any ways.
It has a 1.3 2NZ-FE engine that has about 84HP/6000rpm. It shares the same engine with a scion Xa and Xb. So does this mean most engine parts for the scion will bolt right up with the Yaris? It also shares the same suspension, correct? Again this means I can use parts from a scion? ZPI seems to be the one leading with the most performance parts. Are there any other options out there? That is probably to broad of a question. What other companies make Yaris specific performance parts? thanks in advance. |

hello and welcome to the Yaris world. hopefully you find one soon and start enjyoing the benefits of the car.
fisrt of all the engine is a 1.5L dohc engine-coded 1NZ-FE. and yes it is the same as the XA and XB. You can find more info on the DIY section under the Service Manual. the engine parts are speicfic to the models so so some may work but other may not. ZPI is one of the vendors on this website that is here to help you. NST is another with a good following. good luck. |

If you are comparing models before buying though, you are most likely going to see all hp numbers expressed as whp, or at least that's what I was looking at before I bought.

I'm sure you are right, I guess we must have getting info from different sources. For example, one place I looked was Toyota website, and 106hp is what they show under specs; actually, everything I looked at online had the same figures. Since this is the info I used to compare cars I just thought redduck might find it useful.

One other thing to consider is buying a higher end model that has the side airbags, for your own safety. Mine is the base model, the only one I could affords. Also, don't let the dealer tell you it has a cabin filter: it doesn't, but no worries, the part #'s are all over this site. Good luck!

Auto Dynos however report wheel horsepower (whp, or fwhp or rwhp for front or rear wheel hp). A very expensive engine dyno will tell flywheel hp - and you have to test the engine out of the car for obvious reasons. The reason manufacturers give flywheel hp is because they test the output of the engine in R&D and engineering, not after the car is assembled. |

By the way, why do you Americans use Litres for engines? While you stick with the imperial system, shouldn't you call the 1.5 litre Yaris a 0.396 gallon Yaris? |

CID - Cubic Inch Displacement. Yaris has a 93 CID engine . That went out with the first attempt to kill the imperial system in the 70s 4th gen F-Bodies had 5.7L not a 350 anymore :D . Chevy held out till the 80s - 3rd gen F-Bodies and 2nd gen Monte Carlos came with a 305
