Hatchback vs Sedan

So I was a happy owner of a 2007 Toyota Yaris Sedan. I never cared for the hatchbacks.

Last week my 2007 Yaris was totaled by a Ford F150 (everyone's ok) and my first trip was to a toyota dealership...and I couldn't find a single 2012 Sedan...

I talked to a salesman and found out that Toyota discountined the Sedan, as the hatchback was 70% of their sales. So, I started car shopping and I talked myself into buying a used 2010 (can't find a 2011...).

My theory is that the Sedan looked "camry" enough that toyota did it to differentiate the car lines. Anyone else disappointed that only the hatchback is available?

I was disappointed that they dropped the sedan. But that gives me more reason to hold onto mine for as long as possible.

Exactly, once the five-door hatch was introduced in 2009, the days of the sedan were numbered...

Im happy with my 2011 sedan purchase last year. But glad i bought the last year of the sedan. But I think if was to purchase a sedan right now I would buy the new nissan Versa. Its cheaper than what I paid for my sedan and they come with more options.

the sedan is a good option if you have 2 car seats....at least there is more storage space than the hatch (with the seats up)

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder :)

I can't dispute the last two, but I just never liked the look of the hatchback. So I pickedup my 2010 Yaris tonight, and I hope I love it in 2017 as much as I loved my 2007 in 2012!

How is it more versatile?

I originally wanted the HB, but there's just not enough room in there. I frequently carry 4 other people with me, and there's just not any way they'd have fit in there.

Personally I think the sedan looks better anyway :)

Hatch is generally better for carrying large items...I once carried a dishwasher and luggage on an 8h drive from Fredericton NB to Montreal qc

I used to get the Corolla and the Yaris sedan confused - they looked alike to me. Now they don't, but they did a year or so ago.

Hey now, be careful! I once jokingly suggested that someone rebadge their sedan as a Corolla Jr. and that suggestion was not liked at all!

True. Stuff like that is what I bought my pickup for though. I carry people in the Yaris and I'll carry stuff in my truck.

That's why I like our vibe. Room for people and luggage or room for hauling.

Now, a yaris wagon would be the tits
