My speedo was off right out of the box. After installing 205/50/16's, I was surprised to discover it was bang on!

Hello, fellow members. I am not a wheels person and was wondering if a 15-inch 2001 Acura1.6el wheel with 4x100 will fit our 2007 Yaris. I heard the center bore for Acura is bigger, so, will that be a problem? I'm thinking it's a cheap upgrade to our Yaris' rusting steelies.

I think you would want to check how well the Acura wheels locate on the Yaris studs.

Yes, the Acura wheels appear to fit a larger hub. However, there are hub rings available to fit the larger bore size to the smaller hub. These are easily found on line.

Yes, these Honda wheels will fit your Yaris.

This makes me wonder if there are different ring and pinion sizes for the speed sensor. Because I'm using the supposedly "STOCK" 185/60 R15 tire size, and I'm going 3.3% faster that what's indicated by my speedometer. Really annoying.

It coincides with what this calculator says:

http://www.rimsntires.com/specspro.jsp

Punch in 175/65 R14 for the first set and 185/60 R15 for the second set.

I run 175/65/R15(stock size) winter tires and 205/45/R16 tires for summer, my speedo is always 100% accurate, I even verified it with GPS.

Might be a 3rd gen thing, I dunno. I have never owned a 2nd gen

Did you mean 175/60/R15? Because 175/65/R15 has a much larger circumference that a 205/45/R16. I would agree 205/45/R16 because that's the close to 175/65/R14's circumference, which is what I believe my car is dialed to.

I just thought that I'd post on here that the steel rims from a 2021 Nissan Versa fit rather well on my 07 Hatch. I bent a rim and found all four rims from a 2021 Versa for 115 dollars US shipped. The center hub on the Versa is a little larger, but it still works well.

I have a 2008 Toyota Yaris hatchback, and am looking to get 15x6.5 +35mm wheels and 185/60/R15 84H tires. The car is lowered on Tein lowering springs. There is still a little bit of wheel gap. I can measure the wheel gap if needed, or you can tell me another way to know how much it is lowered as I bought the car this way.

With this wheel and tire combination with +35mm offset should I expect to have rubbing issues?

Thanks for any replies.

Hello

I am looking at all season tires Yokohama YK-GTX

Stock aluminum rims 5.5x15.

stock tires
175/65R15 tread width 5.4 Diameter is 24.0 inches (I have the GTX and I am very pleased with it)
I am thinking what I want is:

195/60r15 wider by 1 inch @6.4, and is .3 inches taller nearly the same O.D. @24.3 inches

or

195/65r15 which is 6.1 inches width (.7 inches wider), 1 inch taller than stock @25 inches

I would prefer the tallness (ground clearance, I drive on dirt roads) of the tire. I am not sure if the taller tire will wreck the acceleration and or the milage.

Anybody have any experience with this?

I will lose 34 tire revs per mile with the 195/65r15 or ~3%.
Revs per mile 865 for 175/65r15 vs 831 revs per mile with the 195/65r15

Thoughts?
Thanks.

195 60's will make you VERY happy, that 1 inch makes a MASSIVE differance...the car will feel more connected to the road, the 65 is a tad tall and you will suffer on torque..which these cars allready suffer at.....i know when i was running my taller old snow tires i HATED it...205/60/15....fwiw i also tested 185s for a couple years and it too was a solid improvement but still felt like it was lacking...195/60s seem to be perfection

i belive my 195/60s are on a 5.5 as well, tho it might be a 6 but i know its not bigger..id have to pull them to verify and im not going to LOL

i have no experiance with the gtx's but i can tell you the verdistain quatrac5 are AMAZING and easily in the top 3 tires ive owned over 30 years
in what id call a 3way tie
bridgstone potenzas
killer in the summer good in the rain worthless in the snow best "muscle car" tire i know of

falken azenis
uber badass n the summer, suprisingly great in the wet, and even more strange finds stable traction on black ice and ice pack..not so good in the snow tho..my goto for anything "light" that wont see snow

verdistain quatrac5
flat out STICKY in the summer, breaking them loose is neerly impossible, in the wet they grab like a rain tire and its still VERY hard to break them loose even under hard g forces, in the snow and ice they are about as good as a blizak snow tire....somehow this tire just WORKS like it was made for the light weight of a yaris
these also grab in gravel and dirt like a rally tire!!!!!

i dont know how these will "wear" on a "heavy" car but i can tell you on the "lack of weight" that a yaris is..these tires blew my mind..and continue to do so

Thanks Short,
I am in a warranty so I am in the yokahama world
the verdistain quatrac5 seem interesting. Same price point too.

If the 195/65 stresses the engine noticeably that would suck. Thanks for the heads up. The car is ok at acceleration and any less would not be pleasing.

I just put on a rear swaybar and it was worth every penny! Squishy tail no more, it firmed it up.

Thank you for sharing your experience.

I Purchased new set of Yokohama 195/60/15 YK-GTX tires. I have put a hundred or so miles on them. My milage may have dropped a tiny bit but the ride is tamer and the cornering is much stickier than the stock size tires! I am happy thus far. These are all season touring tires with wide sipes. Kinda reminds me of my old GT Goodyears on my 87 Camero!

What could be causing the 5% discrepancy between the speedometer and the GPS unit, especially considering the tire size difference and the acknowledged 3% discrepancy with the stock tires/wheels?
