Accelerator pedal - wear and tear ?

MK2 Yaris 2008 - 80,000 Miles.

Few weeks back when driving it feels as if my foot is being tapped very lightly when using the pedal at times ( then sometimes it's completely fine ).

Pedal doesn't have any play in it whatsoever and feels to be secure, no problems accelerating either.

However if I turn the engine off and press the pedal with my hand forward and backwards, it feels as if it doesn't move as smoothly as before, it doesn't stick or anything like that. Is this just wear and tear or is it something serious ?

This is what the mechanism looks like, it is entirely electric. Nothing to do with the throttle body as I feel the sensation even with the car off and have no symptoms of a bad throttle body.

MOT is in a couple of weeks so best to wait until then and ask someone more experienced ?

Replacing the whole thing isn't an option as I cannot find any parts brand new, just from breakers on eBay. If it isn't serious then I'm happy to live with it. Perhaps a tiny bit of silicone thick grease on the outside of the black box ( mechanism )

Putting any grease on anything I wouldn’t do that.

Do you have any other cars just like yours that you could examine their Pedal?

Thank God New Jersey doesn’t have MOT!We just get the computer examined for error codes!

All fixed, there was some debris on the pedal. Cleaned it, it's OK now
