Sunday night I picked up my new 2009 Polar White Yaris. Three door liftback, with a manual transmission was the one for me. I found one with the power package. I had keyless entry and a new headunit installed last night. The head unit is great for the Yaris. I installed the Pioneer FH-P800BT. The face design fits in line with the stacked knobs of the Yaris climate controls. The addition of hands-free bluetooth connection to my iPhone is great as well. The car is fun, and very easy to drive. I am sure I will love this purchase. Now if I could just change the color of my speedometer heads up to match the head unit, I would be in business.:burnrubber:

I noticed something wonky with the spedometer, too; I was going along, driving it home for the first time, looked over, and it said I was doing 80??? I swear I couldn't have been going that fast; the other cars were keeping up??? Besides which, when I went even 70 in my old car, the sound would be something like RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!! Weird.

It was TOO smooth and quiet... Anyone's spedometer "off" out there?

Awesome to hear! Congrats. I have 180 miles on mine...just got it last week and I really like it for what it is! It's looks are really growing on me too. It's a sharp little car.

I'm expecting a ticket soon. On the highway, I constantly find myself doing 80+. Even though my Yaris has less guts than my supercharged Xterra, it has no problem going faster than I should be going...

There's an awesome DIY on changing the lighting color in the combination meter:

Congrats hvacigar on your new Yaris. Got mine about two months ago, just over 4K, and went bare bone. Is the Pioneer you installed the single or double din?

Thanks for the congrats. The pioneer unit I installed is a double Din. It does need a side kit as the double din is tall, but not as wide as the factory unit. I will load up a pic tonight on this thread. I didn't do the install myself as I had the unit and just had it tacked onto a keyless install for a little extra.

I think I am going to try the LED changeout on my instrument cluster. I would like matching blue.

I quickly walked out to the car and snapped some pics on the iphone (I am loving the bluetooth connectivity on the Pioneer). As soon as the blue LEDs come in, I am going to be modifying the instrument cluster to match. I love the large center button on the Pioneer...it seems to match the lower climate controls for a symmetric look.<br><br><a href="http://s5.photobucket.com/albums/y181/hvacigar/?action=view&current=Yaris002.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y181/hvacigar/Yaris002.jpg" border="0" alt="2009 Yaris Pioneer 800BT"></a><br><br><a href="http://s5.photobucket.com/albums/y181/hvacigar/?action=view&current=Yaris003.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y181/hvacigar/Yaris003.jpg" border="0" alt="Pioneer 800BT"></a>

Sweet man. I was interested in the same one, saw it priced around 250.00 UsD. I like the features including the bluetooth sinc option (up to 3 phones) since i have a MT. What year/model is your Yaris? Mine is a 08 LB, the instrument cluser is blue/green speedo with a grey/black clock/fuel guage. Let me know if/how you changed the instrument cluster lights b/c the blue would match my color. Additionally, did you get it installed through a local shop or a box store?

My Yaris is a brand new 2009 LB. I bought the head unit at Fry's for 249.00 (amazing how sometimes Fry's list things for one price and you get to the register and it is lower...it was listed for 299.00). You can also get it from Amazon for 249.00.

I had it installed at a local CarToys where I had the keyless installed. They have done work in the past for me, and I like using them.

One more thing on the Pioneer head unit. Don't expect anything flashy with this unit. It has all the features, but the readout is pretty plain (just your standard Ipod type song infromation). It does come with the following though

1. Bluetooth connectivity enabled (no additional unit required)
2. USB input (most useful with an Ipod connected, but you can connect other media as well)
3. XM, Sirius, XMSirius, and HD Radio ready (I use my Inno XMp3 connected through the rear aux port for my XMSirius)
4. Hands free microphone for your Bluetooth connection.

You can alos play music through the Bluetooth connection, though I have not done that yet.

Yeah I want to get the same Pioneer deck, like the features, even though the display is plane jane. If you don't mind, how much did they charge to intall the Pioneer?

I have that same deck, I love it. Although the only problem I have is that I'm using a flash drive for my music and for some songs that I've downloaded online and put on the flash disk..the deck won't read it...but it doesn't have any problems with songs I've purchased, ripped, and transferred to the flash drive. Not sure why

I don't know for sure about the deck since it was secondary to the keyless entry I had them install. The whole shebang for the keyless, keyless install and deck install was $250. I just went ahead and had it done to save me some time, but I ripped it apart again this weekend to install new speakers and amp. Still waiting for my LEDs to come in.

I'm convinced there's something wonky with my speedometer; yesterday I was supposedly doing 90, yet was just going with the flow of traffic!!! And no, not everyone else was also driving a Yaris...
