Here in Canada we are getting a $1000 rebate from the government for buying an ecofriendly car like the Yaris but i think that program ends this year.

this new administration should implicate that here ( a pipe dream ) . If I remember right , we got $1,200 ( maybe more ) credit from the government when we got the '07 PRIUS . That was applied towards the loan . I believe they should mandate 55 m.p.h. as speed limit across this nation as well . The rebate I refer to is from TOYOTA .

55 mph makes good sense but in this bigger/faster = better society don't hold your breath :frown:

is not 80 the speed limit in TEXAS  ? On interstates here it's 65 , which means 80 m.p.h. ( or > ) here to most  . The state police sit on the roadside most of the time with their cars running and talking on cell phones or passing us going 90 plus miles per hour to get back to the barracks to end their shift  . We usually travel at 68 m.p.h. on the interstates and are left in the dust  . Happy motoring to most :burnrubber: with lower gas prices . Seen where $80 > 110 dollars a barrel is predicted for next spring / summer . Most PEOPLE just don't GET IT ! What comes around goes around affecting all and everything on this planet . Such as economics , foods , poverty , wars , etc.. I  those for contributing to our demise . CARRY ON  .

It's 70 during the day and 65 at night....so not too far off from your state

I ain't proud of this fact, but...this aligns with what I've heard...

In Texas, the speed limit along I-10 from Kerr County to El Paso County is 80 mph (130 km/h), the highest in the nation. However, the night time maximum speed limit remains 65 mph (105 km/h).

that is correct, wich is the recomended speed limit on the autobahn (sp?) and i love it! texas is allowed to have the limit at 85 but choose not to! personally i dont normally drive that fast but great when going cross country.

p.s. i live in san antonio and it takes appr. 8 HOURS to drive to el paso at 80 mph; how many states can most of you drive through in 8 hrs?

I'd be happy with a tax rebate on the car from the government for being eco friendly

PENNSYLVANIA has $1,000 rebate for the '09s  . May have to make border raid  . I figured there would be discounts due to slow economy , winter weather , lower gas prices , upcoming taxes , etc.. Sometimes the good comes out of the bad .

Thats a decent rebate on low priced car. (Who drives 55mph? Are you crazy?!)

apparently our state has the $1,000 cash back as well  . Therefore , no need for a border crossing  . Seen where TOYOTA sales were down 33% last month . Rebates should remain for near future with those numbers .

I got the 1k rebate when I bought mine 2 weeks ago in San Diego.

And a free cargo net!

It was part of the deal at time of purchase - I think it may have started in December.

The state of Texas paid $3000 of my new Yaris in May 2008 for turning oven my 1991 Mazda 626 (200k miles with no trade-in value) to destroy it.

My Yaris sedan w/auto was $11,7xx drive out.

No… it is not a scam. But you must live in Texas.
