My Yaris has such a noisy startup.......

Pretty much, yeah. Nothing you can do short of dynomat or some such product.

It may be louder than normal because it is winter... I mean my yaris is exactly quiet when it starts up... but as soon as I put it in reverse or drive it gets quieter.

i bolded the statement above....did you mean "the same" lol

or did you mean to say your yaris is quiet when starting, and even quieter when putting to drive.
