Hello forum, Yaris rules!
With that out of the way, does your fish rev a bit between shifts? When I shift my manual tranny Yari, it revs a bit, like the flywheel is really light or something.
Do most or all yari do this?
?

Welcome to the forums!
The 1NZFE is very rev-happy, and it is normal to hear it rev down between shifts. Getting a short shift kit (SSK) helps a bit in this department, since the throws are tighter, so the engine doesn't have time to rev down as much.

ya mine does too, its called rev hang and its a new "feature" among the drive by wire cars. supposedly the blitz throttle controller helps that as well, ill be able to let you know on that for sure later this week when i get mine.

Gravy, thanks for the insight everyone! The rev thing is a kind of a bummer, but other than that I love this car!
I am located in Glen Burnie, Md, and I'd love to meet up with other Yarii! Anyone close?

There are a bunch of us in the immediate area. Keep checking back as we'll do more in the spring time. I'll hit you up when things come around

A Short Shift Kit (SSK) helps for sure, but after 3K miles it's gone.

Maybe I got used to the shifting and doesn't happen any more, or it doesn't revs when I shift any more.
I could let some onelse drive my car and I'll see if it revs when shifting.
But for my every day driving, no more revs between shifts.

I think you are referring to the fact that once you get used to how your car's engine works, the rev up/down thing gets handled a lot better instinctively.
As far as the SSK, I've had it for a year and I wouldn't drive another MT Yaris without it.

lol, fishbulb....random quote
but its the drive-by-wire throttle....for whatever reason, it blips the throttle a bit when you push in the clutch
its a pain in the arse.

I was told that the bump in RPM (~200 in my car) during shifting is for emission control. I too had thought it was me and talked to a friend that is more motor saavy than myself and he explained the whole 'on gas off gas burping of fuel and other ick out the tailpipe' .. So, yet another "GREEN" check for the Yaris! I was impressed.

I've been thinking a lot about this since my last post.
I've notice that my foot has been learning to come off the throttle just before I change gears, the result is that the RPMs stay flat.
If I push harder on the the gears (4K rms +) and I'm not paying attention the RPMs do go up a little bit.
Any way, as of today 4.5K miles my cars feels much smoother than day one! and it keeps getting better every day!
