Normally, she drives like an old lady but the roads were wet from the rain this morning. The car sits very low and even a Yaris looks like a big car in the rear view mirror. Apparently, a flatbed tow-truck was behind her and spooked her so she made a quick lane change to get out of the way, spun the car, and wrapped it around a tree. Police said that had there been a passenger in the car, there would have been a fatality. She's got a few cuts and bruises but otherwise is ok.

bummer, that's a sweet car... But yes, the important thing is she's all right!
But what's the real story, she was just trying to catch up with your Yaris, right?

No injuries and you still have someone to hug for the holidays........ sorry about the car..... tires look good..... was there a slick spot on the road? Was it fresh rain that drove the oil to the surface?
Really does not matter.... it will not change the outcome. Give her a hug!

I've totaled a few cars in my day. The bad feeling lasts until you get the next new car. Was that a one way road?

Thanks for the kind words.
It was on a two-way road separated by a median. It's at the bottom of a steep hill and the the start of the road is a 45 degree curve. I was told that many others have had accidents there because people tend to hit the gas to start up the hill right at the apex of the curve. The wet and oily surface did not help.
I tried to get her to agree to buy a Yaris but she declined.

Yeah, she's shrugging off her injuries and thinking the same thing about the car. It WAS an '86 t-top with 130,000 miles. Like I said, she drove it like the little old lady from Pasadena.
