View Full Version : Buying Yaris - Advice Needed
Hello - I am in the market for a 2009 Yaris 4-Door Hatchback Automatic with standard features + power package.
After shopping around at a couple of Toyota dealerships, the offers I received were as follows (price includes taxes (6%), tags, fees, delivery costs and $1000 rebate):
1. $15,400
2. $15,100
I understand that these prices are under MSRP but considering today's market, are these prices a great deal or should I continue shopping/negotiating? I'd really like to make a decision before the Toyotamarthon rebate ($1000) expires.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks...
the $1,000 rebate from TOYOTA benefits dealer as well ( reimbursed that money ) , they use it as a bargaining chip . More apt to give less of trade and their own discount . Try to get them to give best dealer discount and trade in and then tack on the rebate . Also , try to get it on paper so you can take that to other TOYO dealer and use as proof to get better deal . Last , don't forget to get lowest interest rate as well . The times are hard and you have the the upper hand .
is this YARIS $16,095 ? If so , you can do better . Don't get overwhelmed by the pressure and the itch . It'll cost you . We know by experience . As for the rebate , it should remain for another month or 2 . JANUARY or FEBRUARY rebate could be greater or remain the same . The sales are down by about 38% and likely to decline more . This time of year brings up tax time , credit card payments ( charges from Holiday ) , and heating bills which slow down sales . Be patient  and keep your :smoking: . .

buy the last day of the month too.. dealers have quotas to meet.. the right sales person will do anything to get another car on their tally.
you can usually get them to throw in stuff too.. like the spoiler, mud flaps, carpets, armrest, etc.. they cost them next to nothing.
and dont be bullied into the extended warranty.. only get it if you want it. if you plan on keeping the car for more than 3-5 years it could be an okay investment.. but you can get a warranty from an outside source for way less.. dont pay over 800 for a warranty. its almost all profit for the dealer.
+1 , have them toss in the mudguards and cabin air filter . The rear bumper protector may be included as well , if they agree , have them install it for no cost .
take a look at this topic , BUY NOW !!!
offer this : $16,095 - $995 ( Dealer Discount ) = $15,100 - $1,000 ( TOYO rebate ) = $14,100 . Then have them toss in mudguards and cabin air filter for free with installation at no cost . If more daring , get the rear bumper protector for free and applied to bumper for nothing as well . GET 'ER DUN !

Where in VA are you? I got mine at Koons in Tysons for $12,400, tax and tags at around just over $13,000 with Auto but no power package. So your price sounds just about right at $15,100.

$15100 = ($15050 + $200 - $1000) * 1.06
Isn't it $550 below MSRP if the fee is $200?
Which is like only $450 over invoice.
It is a good deal to me.
Thanks for all of the advice.
Unfortunetly, I dont have a trade-in nor do I plan on financing through the dealer.
Just got off the phone with Toyota dealer in Fairfax, VA. I asked for $14500 or lower and he stated that his manager would "most likely" meet the offer on Sunday (the last day of Toyotathon). Not sure how much to believe in that?
I'll also ensure to request additional assessories, which is something I never thought about.
Will keep you guys abreast of progress.

Keep on them. I did the same thing with them and they backed out at the last minute, check Leesburg Toyota as well, they are willing to deal.

Will keep you guys abreast of progress. $16,095 ? If so , the $14,100 or a few hundred more along with the extra items stated is reasonable or doable . Don't take the position :moon: , be defiant :middlefinger: . Do it for YARISKIND .

Good Luck. I'm looking to trade in my 08 for the 09 with power package. So this thread has been helpful to me too. There is a $1000 rebate right now? The salesman told me $500.:bs:
