hey guys (and gals), been a while since ive been here, and last time i was, i vowed to make the best street yaris there is

now here's the problem. i dont have a yaris anymore, as it was my dads work car. i have about 6-7k (australian) to spend. however, this means that a yaris is out of my price range. therefore, i have come up with a list of cars i would like to own in the next 5 years or more.

1998 camry v6 (manual)
2000 + toyota celica zr (gt-s) manual
toyota yaris (3 door manual)

this is where im stuck. if im to make a super awesome yaris, what engine should i use, and from what car? i would like to own a celica as a track car, but then i would have to get two, one for the engine, one for the car & engine. i dont think the 2zz is redily available here in the form of used or reconditioned. the 2nd 2zz would go into the yaris.

i would most likely be getting the camry, because of the combination of the engine and transmission. would be one hell of a sleeper, and if i can get it to sound like this:

http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=yv3qJXOgb6Q

that would be pretty sweet:thumbsup:

now im also thinking maybe i could put the v6 in the yaris and make it rwd. the motor is the 1mzfe. i cant get the 3mzfe (stupid ADR crap)

http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/registration/downloads/vsi/vsi_06_-_guidelines_for_light_vehicle_modifications_nov_20 07.pdf

this way, i'll only buy 1 celica, more money for me YAYYY! but what are your thoughts on this? anyone know about the ADR's?

you're all over the place buddy..

you can't afford to buy a yaris so how are you going to build the ultimate street yaris?

and i think maybe the engine has to be newer than the car, so maybe the new 2AR or 3ZR-FAE which has "valvematic"

i do have financial support, and im not looking to buy it in the next year or so, i'll be out of school and have a full time job to pay for it.

im also starting to think maybe not street but race, stripped interior, etc etc, cheaper, no need for sound system, and i can sell off some spares

With that much money, you could buy yourself a killer Mazda Rx7 turbo FC. I mean come on, your in Australia. Those cars and parts are beyond plentiful ;)

but the law doesnt allow provisional (pre full license) drivers turbo's, some rotaries, more than 6 cylinders and even some high performance 6's like the 350z

and the australian government in all their wisdom allow the elise and s2000....

I didn't know that at all! I guess my suggestion is out of the question then since I'm not too sure you guys recieved non-turbo rx7's. I know in Japan all FC's were turbo only and I'd imagine oz land gets most of them from there. You could try an older FB rx7, those should be REAL CHEAP in price and non turbo.

Checking out the Australian AutoTrader for used Yaris shows me that you wont get a Yaris for much under 15000
http://www.tradingpost.com.au/Automotive/Used-Cars/Search?QueryTerm=Yaris&State= and with only 6-7 to spend its going to be a long time in your future before its Yaris time. In the mean time i'm sure a mid 90's Civic would be in your price range or maybe an early Echo/Vitz.

What about a Nissan S13/S14?

Sylvia / 240SX / 200 SX or what ever you call them down there.

You can generally get one for cheap.

Drive it Normally aspirated and start working on the suspension meanwhile you get your "Full License" and then just swap a SR20DET

That is a fairly cheap project that can keep you interested for years...

Heck! You sound like a young kid that wants to learn to drive...

Even a Corolla AE86 would be a fun project. Not a lot of power but is a car that really can help you develop some skills...

If I were in Australia I would be driving a Pulsar GTI-R... that is something!

not wrong there!

the ae86's are rare, and are going for about 8-10k. and insurance for any 2 door car, whether it be a yaris or the nissans, anything, is much higher.

dont know if i should just buy a bomb and save the rest of my cash, that or borrow my dads car (http://www.carsales.com.au/reviews/2007/large-passenger/ford/fairmont/ford-bf-mkii-fairmont-ghia-3982) but yeah, some of the suggestions you guys have put forward are good though.

in terms of engine swaps, do you think if i do buy the camry, the v6 would be good in the yaris or is there something better?
