Ya, if you check out CU's issue for cars, you'll find that they still don't give it a "RECOMENDED" despite the new safety features. So because it's not recomended, I'm sure that's why they didn't include it in their list.

People take this seriously?
"Best Value Small Cars: Hyundai Elantra SE"
Sounds like they really did their homework. I can tell you by looking at the consumer reports page from 15 feet away, any toyota is a better buy than any hyundai.

You won't think that Hyundai is such a great "value" 5 years from now when it's resale value is about $350.
These new agencies just give this kind of crap assignment to an intern to write just to fill web space. No one really fact checks it or evaluates its journalistic value.

ABC is such a joke for a news organization! If Walter Cronkite were legally dead...he would be rolling over in his grave!

$350? Are you assuming that massive inflation will hit our economy by 5 years? How about $50?

Obviously they didn't calculate depreciation into the equation. When the market crashed in 1929 it took nearly 9 years to FULLY recover. As long as the current market stabilizes itself the Hyundai might actually be worth $500 in five years time! I have to admit though that the Genesis sedan is a nice piece. One thing that turned me away was the fact that the limited slip differential isn't even optional on the V6 version. Driving a 290hp RWD vehicle in winter is idiotic without proper traction management. Don't forget, the Elantra debuted this year with a wagon version! woo hoo

Best Value Hatchbacks/Wagons: Volkswagen Rabbit, Mazda3 hatchback, Scion xB, Subaru Impreza Outback Sport and the Toyota Matrix
Subaru, Mazda3 and Volkswagon are a better deal?
Ya. That's why I bought a Yaris cause it's such a bad deal comparitively.

I had a chance to tour the Subaru plant in Lafayette Indiana a year ago. Very interesting tour! You walk away realizing that the process to make cars are all the same because this particular plant also produces the Toyota Camry..and in the past produced the Honda Passport and a few other cars.
I only buy Toyotas....their engines and transmissions are the best. The rest is just a generic mass of metal and plastic!
